These words have probably become the most iconic quote associated with Dwayne McDuffie. They're from an interview I did with him way back in 2010. When I say #MilestoneMadeMe, this is what I'm talking about.

Last day of the kiddos first week at school at it finally hit him. Up til today they barely noticed when we'd leave but today.

Today. When we said goodbye they immediately started crying and ran over begging us not to leave. 😭

Axios screenshot text:

"Why it matters: America's racial conversation is moving from a shared historical narrative to a fragmented, individualized one, increasingly shaped by social media, personal identity and real-time events.

The last of the Civil Rights-era activists are aging, while most Americans today struggle to name important leaders in the movement or identify important moments in the struggle beyond Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Even then, the share of Americans who say they know a great deal or a a fair amount about King's "I Have a Dream" speech is dropping, especially among younger Americans, suggesting that those words are fading from memory.
State of play: Younger Americans are now several generations removed from the Civil Rights Movement's defining moments, encountering its history less through classrooms or legacy media and more through algorithms and short-form video.

GOP-led states have passed laws limiting discussion about race and diversity in K-12 public schools and universities, making education about the Civil Rights era uneven.
The Trump administration has reinterpreted Civil Rights-era laws to focus on "anti-white racism" rather than discrimination against people of color.
Zoom in: Fewer than half of U.S. states require comprehensive teaching of the Civil Rights Movement in K–12 education."

I also find the idea of the stadium run more interesting.

Most were in their 40s or under but there were definitely some older entrants, including my Dad who's in his late 60s.

1/ The US Government has quietly removed a memorial to Black soldiers who died in World War II from the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, South Limburg. The move follows a complaint from the right-wing Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission. ⬇️

Chattel slavery was so bad that when we tell you how bad it in fact was most of y'all shut down and tell us we're making it up and pass laws against us ever telling you how bad it was again because your brains literally cannot handle how bad it in fact was.

It's bad enough to watch these people flip flop on their previous positions... but do they realize that the thing they're flip flopping ON is getting accountability for child rapists?

Birthright citizenship is a Constitutional RIGHT. Any attack on it is an attack on us all.

This is an attempt by far-right justices to attack immigrant communities and remove protections from any American who questions Trump.

Your rights are nonnegotiable. We can’t compromise on that basic fact.
