I winter seeded a large plot of native grasses and wildflowers. The winter rains never really came and we are currently under "exceptional" drought condtions. There are few sprouts but I can't irrigate. Am i screwed for a decent germination.

Allow me a moment of Dad bragging. Today was match day. 50,000 soon to be graduated from med school across country found out simultaneously where they would be doing their residency. At one swoop they find out what their specialty will be and where they will spend next few years . 1/2

Over the fall and winter I scattered seeds from over 100 species of native plants on my property. The amount of each jad to do with availability and price. Did try and get them in roughly right sun and moisture. They are a mix of forbs, grasses and shrubs.

This is mixed forest (lobloly and various hardwoods) and pasture. Its first time i can access whole property in many years. Feels like a park now. Need to get some tall grass cover growing this winter and spring.

I will likely need to respray and burn in next year. But i have a chance to get a reset. Maybe for my remaining years it can be mostly native. #nativeplants

Im spraying much of the Bahia to knock it back and give other plants a chance. Will overseed with native grasses and wildflowers. I know the battle with invasives can't really be won by one person.

I know that many are opposed to herbicide use. I have 25 acres that was overrun with privet. Most of test covered in Bahia. Hired a forestry mulcher to remove the worst. A spray crew went after the resprouts this week. 1 of ? #nativeplants
