Tom Paxton - Whose Garden Was This? (Live 1971) YouTube video by Boot Leg

On Earth Day 2026 we should never forget the song 'Whose Garden Was This' by Tom Paxton written in 1970 for the first Earth Day. It's even more relevant now.

Looking back to last weekend and Janice Burns & Jon Doran playing #FolkattheLodge .. sold out show and a cracking night. The chemistry between these guys is another example in the music world of 1 + 1 = 3.

Great to wake up to a good news story about the Countess of Chester Hospital .. I've benefited from the expertise within the Endoscopy Unit a few times and cannot praise them enough.

I always look forward to this point in the year when the Blackthorn flowers begin to burst open from their buds lighting up the hedgerows. The promise of Spring and a sign that the natural world is wakening up.

Inspired by the litter heroes who pick up in the #CountessofChesterCountryPark I've been doing what I describe as Postcode litter picks. If you have a sense of 'place' in where you live it's actually very therapeutic and quite good fun. Most interesting thing today .. a pair of underpants 🤔.

Last Friday my @tcvnational.bsky.social #GreenGym team in the #CountessofChesterCountryPark rebuilt a fallen down post & wire fence, planted hedging whips in a large gap and put in a diagonal stay to repair a strainer post. TCV volunteers are the 'heroes' who look after the site.

The great news is that brother was found in Kelsall just before 10pm (3°C) and is now safely home. Thank you so much to everyone who had expressed concern, shared and in many cases searched .. so much appreciated.

"The UK creative industries — which contributed £125 billion to the economy in 2024 and supported 2.4 million jobs — are being destroyed by an AI sector that, whatever its long-term potential, contributed just £11 billion in the same year and supported only 85,000 jobs."

Government’s wildlife targets will be missed in England, watchdog says Seven out of 10 targets have little likelihood of being met by 2030, Office for Environmental Protection says

Utterly damning report from Office for Environmental Protection - the Govt’s not only missing its targets to protect wildlife in England, it’s also failing on *almost all* environmental measures - and in some cases actively destroying the natural world through its obsession with growth at all costs

The frightening thing is that, based on what this guy is currently doing, he may well try this. God help us all.
