Screen shot of Bluesky’s accessibility settings page, a toggle is turned on for “require alt text before posting”.
For Disability Pride Month I’m once again begging for more artists to start considering accessibility and add alt text to your images. It helps low/no vision folks, neurodivergent folks, and more. Plus alt text shows up in searches! There’s a toggle in settings so you won’t forget. 👇

Cypripedium acaule (Moccasin Flower, Pink Lady's Slipper) Orchidaceae (Orchid Family) A leafless stalk bears 1 flower (rarely 2) with a distinctive pink, inflated, slipper-like lip petal, veined with red and with a fissure down the front. This is one of the largest native Orchids and is found both in low, sandy woods and in higher, rocky woods of mountains. It should not be picked. These orchids propagate poorly and are very difficult to grow in wildflower gardens. The genus name derives from the Latin for "Venus' slipper." Yellow lady’s slipper is a beautiful perennial orchid frequently growing in colonies. Flowers have three long, brown, twisted “flags” — the upright one being a sepal, the other two, on either side of the “slipper,” being two lateral petals. The bright yellow slipper, or lip, is a third, modified petal. The petal-like structure behind the lip is actually a pair of fused sepals. Thus there are 3 sepals and 3 petals. Blooms April–June. Leaves broad, prominently parallel-veined, clasp the stem, to 6 inches long, sharply pointed, hairy. Two subspecies: -Small yellow lady’s slipper (var. parviflorum) has a lip ¾–1 inch long, flags reddish purple to brown, and 4–6 leaves per stem; it is shorter, less hairy -Large yellow lady’s slipper (var. pubescens) [PICTURED] has a lip 1–2¼ inches long, flags yellowish green with purplish streaks, and 3–4 leaves per stem; it is taller, hairier Above as per: https://mdc.mo.gov/discover-nature/field-guide/yellow-ladys-slipper#:~:text=Yellow%20lady's%20slipper%20is%20a,long%2C%20sharply%20pointed%2C%20hairy.

Someone said Spo should have subbed in a reinforcer after the refs failed to respond to LaMelo's dirty play. Instead, the Heat played with so much heart and almost took the game even w/o their best guy. Karma will take LaMelo. The Heat kept their class.
Every time I watch one of this guy's brilliant exploratory videos, I resolve that I *will* learn more music theory goddamnit. Then, about halfway through the video, I completely & woefully abandon the idea, b/c my brain simply will NOT retain so much complex, abstract info 😭

The real world is pretty tough right now so give yourself grace. And you already have the love of a good lady (Dolly B ♡) so everything else is gravy, my friend 😘❤️❤️
Just because she is dating again does not mean she may not reconsider.
That said, give yourself a certain amount of time to pine, and then move on. A pining deadline is a gift to yourself. ❤️🩹
And a lost opportunity for the legit use of our most iconic poop emoji 💩
I have been wasting massive amounts of time online. And I am now complaining about it online.
"Then, Earthmaker (Mą'ųna) sent down [Red Horn]. He went around talking to people, but they would always fix on his earrings which were actual, living, miniature human heads. When these little heads saw someone looking at them, they would wink and make funny faces." 🎭
Red Horn was a Mississippian mythical figure, although he's more specifically associated with the Siouan Chiwere (loway, Otoe, Missouria, and Hochank [Winnebagol). He is considered one of the five sons of Earthmaker. He is often depicted in Mississippian art, as in this painting in the Paintec Cave of Missouri, west of Cahokia. He is also arguably associated with the Morning Star (Venus)
This image shows the "Big Boy" or "Resting Warrior" human effigy pipe, a significant artifact from the Mississippian culture. Origin: It was discovered at the Spiro Mounds site in Oklahoma and is believed to have been made around 1100–1200 A.D., likely at Cahokia. Material and Size: The pipe is carved from bauxite (flint clay) and stands approximately 10 inches tall. Significance: It is considered a rare and spectacular visual document of how ancient peoples viewed themselves or their mythical figures, such as Red Horn. Features: The figure is seated and depicted wearing long-nosed god mask earrings, a feathered cape on his back, and a beaded necklace.

"Cahokia was the largest city ever built in the pre-columbian United States. Now a UNESCO World Heritage site, this city of great mounds and plazas continues to capture our imagination."

Storing sunscreen in the trunk during high temperatures (over 77°F-86°F) cause the active ingredients to degrade, breaking down the formula, and making it significantly less effective (also, heat can cause aerosol cans to explode). #soapbox
I did not know about Brazil either. 🤢
I learned this history from a Throughline podcast

(And I still cannot believe I lived almost half a century before I discovered the confederados' existence. I am always astounded at what I do not know that I do not know.)
Did you know about these folks? 🧐
