I get the doubling effect and indeed straight dividing the numerator and denominator gives the decimal, but I was notice & wondering if there was an algorithm of sorts that, given a certain numerator, it would output the first digits of the decimal:
n/7 = 0.(2n)....

I'm also noticing this pattern: if we double the numerator and x7 we can get the first two digits after the decimal, but I can't figure out the rest, like where does the extra 1 come from? 57 instead of 56 for 4/7? 🤔
