A screenshot of a sci ship hovership, with 2 short stubby forward swept wings and a longer center fuselage. The pixel are is flat, it has a fake shadow cast underneath, ground beneath is clear square pixels.

A screenshot of the same sci ship hovership, with 2 short stubby forward swept wings and a longer center fuselage. Now normal mapping and real lighting are being applied, with a shadow shader. The pixel art is still basic, but looking much better.

I will need to do updates to the actual sprites, probably make them bigger and start adding some details, but adding normal maps+lighting and a cool shadow shader to give me directional shadows in 2D (github.com/azagaya/laig... very cool tool, thank you @azagaya.bsky.social!) is a huge step up.

Something else I did was giving this drawing a normal map using @azagaya.bsky.social's #Laigter and then rendering in @marmoset3d.bsky.social's #MarmosetToolbag.

It came out great! The bg is from marmoset's library.
