I’m no lawyer but I find it interesting that Christian conversion therapy practitioners have the right to tell kids they aren’t trans but those kids’ teachers apparently don’t have the right to say they are trans and people on the internet may not have the right to affirm them being trans either

There's a broken cuneiform tablet from the Old Babylonian period, nearly 4,000 years ago, which preserves a tiny portion of a dialogue between two friends.

This is why you study Latin. This is why you read Cicero. Learning to break down and analyze sentences like this reveals the subtle biases in writing. Words are tools and they are being used as weapons, and yes even by the "paper of record."
When people question the value of Humanities education, this is my answer. We need citizens who know what rhetoric is and notice when and how it is being used.
