What better way is there to spend the Easter 🐣 🐣🐣 weekend than birdwatching, and hopefully finding and recording rare breeding birds to help their conservation? There’s lots to look for in April, so here’s some ideas from RBBP Secretary @markaeaton.bsky.social #ornithology #UKbirding

Even the friendliest dogs can disturb nesting birds! 💔🐶
Please keep dogs on short leads and stick to paths on our nature reserves to help protect ground nesting birds. 💚

Excellent, although article low on detail. Change to Woodcock shooting season was debated in Parliament over three years ago thanks to a @wildjustice.bsky.social petition passing 100,000 signatures wildjustice.org.uk/woodcock/mon...

I didn't used to expect ticks until May but had huge numbers on me in Cambs woodland this weekend. It's been -2C at night and only 13C by day. This hazard for early spring fieldwork is pretty new, not something I worried about in March. Affects fieldwork approach and precautions needed. #BeTickAware

Checking up on local nest box cameras the other day I came across something I have not seen before in ~30 years of monitoring barn owl boxes....a tawny owl in a box with a pair of barn owls! Thankfully a couple of days later the barn owls were still present and the tawny owl had moved on.
I wonder if there is a collective noun for Dartford Warblers ? Needed one this morning #hydes #rspbsarne Many singing and displaying . Very busy . Historically they were known as Furze Wrens?
Also 20 RB Merganser in MiddleBere channel . Plus +
