Plenty of birds at #RSPBHamWall this morning with at least 50 Black-tailed Godwits in with the Lapwings. At least 5 Marsh Harriers, though one lost its meal to a Buzzard at the back of the viewing area. Also a dramatic arrival by some Canada Geese

A sunny patch of ivy at #RSPBHamwall held 5 different Hoverfly species this morning. The ones here are Sericomyia silentis (Yellow-barred pond fly), Helophilus pendulum (Marsh Tiger fly) and Episyrphus balteatus (Marmalade Hoverfly). I was especially pleased with the first one. #diptera
Circus aeruginosus, the Marsh Harrier, at #RSPBHamWall on 13/8. Fortunately a more frequent sighting across the country but at one time they had almost disappeared as a British breeding bird and a trip east to Norfolk would have been needed.

Enjoyed a visit to #RSPBHamWall 13/8, quiet at this time of year but: Great (mainly) & Little Egret; GC & Little Grebe; Gadwall; Marsh Harrier; Moorhen. (No swords emerging from the Avalon water though and Ham I read refers to water meadows.)
