Soon the haze of green and we will name the shades. Jade and emerald, sage and hunter. There will be a moment when it is all new. Leaves unfurled and wind danced. Then we will stop noticing until they turn to gold and we pay attention again. Rust and copper, bronze and crimson.

You're looking at velvet malachite, Cu2CO3(OH)2.

A few warnings:
Please resist the urge to touch it to feel how soft it is.
Absolutely /do not/ lick it.
Keep far away from any Supermen.
If a wingéd creature emerges, do not agree to any pacts.

Let's talk about the science here.

The morning mist hovers over the silhouetted vista as the distant mountains are woken by pre daybreak light. The waterway is calm as it holds the reflection while edged with auburn grasses.

A bee flying right near the purple flowers of a Mexican sage bush. The long, thin bundle of fuzzy flowers goes from the bottom right corner, curves up to the top, then dips back down. The background is blurred green leaves with a little bit of purple flowers.

"It's a bee"

The only bee shot I got that was not massively blurred the other day, and that includes perfectly still bees. I don't have a macro lens.

Do Not Finish This Poem

there was that time
we plunged
into an ocean of ink
and swam until
our lungs burst
with sonnets

we held hands
under a sea of stars
spiralling into
fractal nebulas
the underside of the sun
our only shelter

. . .

A mix of elemental, mythic & moral forces here, pride/fall, hubris/nemesis, fortune’s wheel, karma, & our ‘BBC Nature programme’ indifference.

All must fall…

National Poetry Month : Han VanderHart, Ars Poetica as Arctic Explorer I point my boat into the silent cold. We all make choices towards and away from each other.   The Farth...

Put on this coat of goose feather.
These sealskin boots. Wipe tallow on your lips.
We may see a gam of whales today.

When we return, our loves may still love us…
