I am absolutely disappointed with the new Labour government and their stance on vulnerable people in society. First the pensioners and now disabled people #Disabilities #SEND

SON GUILTY OF FINANCIALLY ABUSING HIS MOTHER IN CARE HOME Services

Be careful who you trust as your #SEND advocate
- there needs to be better qualifications and a register of advocates because this is a potentially dangerous Send advocate/consultant www.wyjs.org.uk/news/son-gui...

Image of a young girl with a solemn expression, accompanied by a quote from a parent/carer testimony: 'I have no trust in the school at all. They hide behind an outdated outstanding Ofsted rating which they seem to think makes them invulnerable. All the while there is a layer of abuse taking place which NHS services & LA services seem to deem to be completely acceptable.'

The ICARS Report sheds light on the abusive practices of restraint and seclusion hidden in plain sight. Children deserve better.

I hope much of the developmental damage inflicted on this poor girl by her mother can be reversed and that she'll flourish having been rescued from such horrific neglect. One wonders whether the cleft palate's presence motivated the mother to such extreme behaviour. I wish the child all the best 🙏 🤗

Only 7 years. How have “we” become so acclimated to abusive and violent behaviour?

This is so sad. Seven years is not enough

A common pattern is that she looks for a fight, especially on a Sunday, before the school week starts again. We’ve had shouting and self-harm threats already today. Walking on eggshells is hard for us all, we don’t want to be scared of her

I’m at work today. Post-covid hybrid working means I only have to be here 2 days a week, and wife is part-time, so is home on those 2 days. Sad to say that being away from home and at work is almost a relief for us both. Waiting for news on whether AD makes it to school today 🤞🏻#KidsMH #SchoolRefusal

She’s done it! A crazy routine of getting up at 5am, breakfast at 6 and in the school car park before 8. She’s only going to stay until 10, but just getting ready and crossing the threshold means that today is a win! #kidsMH #schoolrefusal

Last week, I dropped in on an event hosted by the Disabled Children’s Partnership in Parliament. It's so important we keep pushing for better support and equality in education. I’ll keep working for an inclusive education system and greater transparency from local authorities.

I'm proud to have supported the Disabled Children’s Partnership in Parliament this morning. I had a good chat with Tobias, he explained the personal challenges he has faced.

Parcel theft from doorsteps has significantly increased. Especially in London so why are delivery companies leaving the parcels on the doorsteps and not taking them to a collection point or reattempting delivery when the person is home? #ParcelTheft #Parcels #Deliveries

Super proud to be an author on a paper published today 🎉

I don't do as much "on-site" work in research these days, but supported with this paper based on EEG data I collected with students at Birmingham University, UK 😊

What are your wins for the week? 🐱🌈 I'd love to hear them, big or small!

I’ve just dipped back to the other place to ask the National Down Syndrome Policy Group about their elusive guidance around the Down Syndrome Act 2022.

They’re busy getting young people into Parliament to tell MP’s about the challenges they face.

Sort the guidance out then!

I'm the single father of a disabled adult daughter. She has epilepsy and rheumatoid arthritis and takes a ridiculous amount of meds for her conditions. Medicaid also pays for a daytime caregiver so I can work. We're done for without it. The meds alone would break us in a year.
