I’ve said it before, but it’s worth saying again: Jason Reynolds is a genius of our time. Hearing him speak feels like what it must have been like to listen to Mozart in person or watch Michelangelo paint the Sistine Chapel. #AASL25

Revisiting the Golden State Killer | American Libraries Magazine In his new book, Sacramento DA Thien Ho sheds light on some of California’s darkest crimes and gives victims a voice.

For any librarian seeking to help solve crimes, author & Sacramento District Attorney Thien Ho says you’re already equipped: “You connect dots, dig through details, & reconstruct puzzles. That’s exactly the kind of thinking that helps crack cold cases.”

Two students reading while sitting on the floor in a library.

At one Ohio school, 6th graders didn’t just study poverty, they took real steps to address food disparity in their community. Their Poverty and Philanthropy class connected students with local organizations, leading to hands-on experiences that made a real impact.

HS library. No uptick in requests but did have a student make a comment about a ’in the news’ book display last month of Carter’s passing and Jan. 6 riots. “That’s propaganda!” Actually, no it’s not. It’s history. Never had this happen before.

Librarians aren't going to save us. Librarians aren't superheroes.

They're just people trying to keep largely underfunded and overwhelmed public services going.

Praise is nice; realistic expectations are better; material support is best.
