This featured a lot in Channel 4s "It's A Sin" drama. Acting as a bit of London.

On the road numbers. Crossing the A628 - I don't recognise the number but would readily recognise "The Woodhead Pass". The A57 in the Park is "The Snake Pass". Similarly, the A635 I believe is called the "Isle of Skye".

On the route out of Glossop, he starts along the A57 again. It's much better to go through Manor Park and Old Glossop. No traffic noise, just birds and the sounds of the Brook.

Similarly, a detour to see Melandra roman Fort is an odd choice. It's an overgrown, uneven field next to a housing estate. Though the estate does boast an impressive collection of Saint George flags. Perhaps in homage to George being a soldier in the Roman army?

On the routes. I can not imagine anyone else choosing to walk from #Manchester to #Glossop along the A57. It is much better to walk along the Ashton canal (or the train) onto Marple via the High Peak canal and through Etherow Country Park towards Glossop.
(Marple aqueduct highest in the UK).

High Peaks by Tom Chesshyre.
A 363 mile walk around the #PeakDistrict. This is a travelogue, not a walking book. An enjoyable, easy read, informative, and gently funny. I really liked it. Though much of the narrative (and walking) is outside of the National Park, it adds context. #BookSky #Books πŸ’™πŸ“š

A lovely round walk from #Glossop Up Doctors Gate, onto Higher Shelf Stones, Lower Shelf Stones, and back down via James's Thorn.
(I think three plane crash sites near by).
