Thank you so much Yann, Emmanuel, Oliver, Vasanthakrishnan, and Raynald for hosting me at IGDR in Rennes. It has been great to learn all about your amazing research and to enjoy your fantastic hospitality!
Another PhD opportunity in my lab starting in September 2026. The CSC-funded project aimed at Chinese nationals will explore the structure and function of the archaellum machinery. #ArchaeaSky. If you are interested, get in touch with me! www.exeter.ac.uk/research/ins...
We are looking for an enthusiastic postdoc to investigate cellular dormancy and ribosome hibernation across plants, fungi, and mammals using #cryoET. If you are interested, apply here: careers.exeter.ac.uk/vacancies/66....
Simply amazing: Cryo-EM resolves the structure of the archaeal dsDNA virus HFTV1 from head to tail:

Hellooooo beautiful!๐ #CryoEM #ArchaeaSky ๐งช
Wow, this is a thing of beauty๐งช ๐๐
beyond cool!
This is incredibly beautiful, and the fact that the resolution is sufficient to follow the path of DNA spooling inside the virion head and through the tail is amazing
Out in Science Advances: Our #cryoEM structure of HFTV1, a virus infecting the halophile #archaea. *First full atomic structure (containing all structural proteins) of any tailed virus!* Congrats and thanks to all co-authors and our fantastic collaborators! www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
Yesterday, we celebrated the life of Deryck Mills, an amazing colleague and friend who touched so many of us and passed away far too early. A day of emotions; tears, laughter and gratitude.
Really enjoyed giving a public talk at the town hall in Eppstein, Germany, sharing our research with the local community. Many thanks to the Kulturkreis Eppstein for organising.
Check out this lovely S-layer review everyone!
Beautiful paper, congrats!
Are you a Biophysicist who would like to work in an interdisciplinary institute? Then do not miss this opportunity. More information on the LSI website: www.exeter.ac.uk/research/ins...
Amazing! Many congrats Ankita!
Here we go! @daumlab.bsky.social @mathewmclaren.bsky.social
The S-layer is a crystalline protein coat found at the cell envelope of most #archaea, forming a hexagonal symmetry resulting in geometric pores. These self-assembling structures have exciting potential for #nanotechnology! The stunning images were provided by the Daum lab. #ARCTECH #microbiology
Great opportunity here, folks! Great lab, great research, great city!

Great opportunity for all archaea lovers out there!
We are hiring! We seek a motivated postdoc to investigate the ribosomal mechanisms underpinning dormancy and awakening across eukaryotes, using cutting-edge confocal microscopy, volumeEM, and omics. @lsiexeter.bsky.social. Interested? DM me or apply via: jobs.exeter.ac.uk/hrpr_webrecr...
Many congratulations Ben, this is much deserved!
