We’ve been sciencing! M abscessus makes a arabinanase toxin to chop up the cell wall of competitor mycobacteria! #glycotime 🦠 thanks to @wellcometrust.bsky.social for the funding that makes this collaborative work possible! Also Sam’s structures are 😍 and Jean-Lou did some lovely biochem

We've been we've been working on this for quite a while now (hopefully published soon). Grateful to @proftracypalmer.bsky.social for concinving me & @lislowe.bsky.social that mycobacteria produce inter-bacterial toxins. Team science, led by @sambenedict5.bsky.social www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

The complexity of glycoproteomics data creates a bottleneck in data interpretation and communication.

We (@timveth.bsky.social, @riley-research.bsky.social) built GlycoDiveR as a step toward bridging gaps between search-engine output and biological interpretation through #glycotime visualizations.

Conserved CD4+ T cell staphylococcal and streptococcal epitopes enable broad-acting vaccines in mice Nature Microbiology, Published online: 19 February 2026; doi:10.1038/s41564-026-02265-yImmunopeptidomics identify CD4⁺ T cell epitopes from the conserved bacterial Hup protein that confer protection against multiple bacterial infections in mice suggesting potential for development of broader-spectrum vaccines against staphylococci and streptococci.

Really happy to see this work out!

Super fun project with a great team. For me the highlight was that we finally were able to show the O-linked glycosylation systems of H. pylori/C. jejuni are general glycosylation systems which target non-flagellin proteins (suggest >10 years ago by click chem).

Phosphoproteomics of aged insulin-resistant bone identifies P70S6K phosphorylation of AFF4 as a gene-specific transcriptional regulator - Nature Communications Insulin signaling plays a crucial role in coordinating skeletal development with whole‑body energy metabolism. Our #phosphoproteomics analysis of insulin signaling in bone uncovered a new mechanism of transcriptional activation via S6K phosphorylation of AFF4. It appears to play a role in regulating the expression of genes in ageing and insulin resistance. www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Quantitative interactome mapping of skeletal muscle insulin resistance Protein-protein interactions (PPIs) are dynamic and critical to adaptive homeostasis. While there have been massive efforts to catalogue proteome-wide PPIs, global quantification of changes remains a ...

Protein:protein interactions are incredibly dynamic so how do we quantify and discover changes in native tissues? Our new study uses qXL-MS and PCP-MS to study dynamic remodeling of interactions following skeletal muscle insulin resistance. #MyoBlue #Proteomics www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

Conventional proteomics searches struggle with many modifications and fully open searches may be difficult to interpret. We introduce a "detailed" mass offset search in #MSFragger boosting interpretability and localization especially in complex cases (e.g. FPOP data): www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

Really nice to see this work finally out in print. This has been a long term project (> 3 years) in the lab to understand why we couldn't make a few mutants in the burkholderia o-linked glycan biosynthesis pathway. Special shout out to Leila who drove most of this work! www.jbc.org/article/S002...

Regardless of current events, highlighting trainees as they continue to excel is a joy.

We just added @emmajays.bsky.social's recent J_@asms.org publication about chemical deamidation from common proteomics buffer to our website, too.

Congrats Emmajay! #TeamMassSpec
