It hints at Vela's (weird) belief that nutritious and healthy diverge, that gets introduced earlier and just comes up every now and then. And in-universe that they sell stuff as food that probably won't qualify as such being made up of pharma and nano-machines. Which is why Belle wants to avoid it.

Oh yea, that sounds very good and an important message in these times. I wouldn't even know how my past youth self would have handled the current info-deluge of terrible news. 🫠
Transitional scene, from dinner back to ship. And what else to do on a walk than crammin it full of exposition. In 'Cloudgazer'. #WriteSky #WIPSnips #AmWriting
Thanks a lot ! :)
I love these !! That hits exactly the spot for me when I think Solarpunk :)
Vela kind of spirals and blames herself. The lessons she takes away on her own are mostly not ideal. But she learns from observation.
Belle is more constructive in that. But she still messes up every now and then. So Vela can make her observations.

“Creativity, Writing, and Reading in the Age of AI: Survey Results”
Right y’all 😮💨 We worked our way though over 5,000 survey responses, crunched the numbers, and data’d the data—and now we’re ready to share our findings.
Who’s ready for some pie charts?! 🧵🧵

Vela gets overwhelmed pretty quickly, the room devolves to a hurried blur of sounds and colors. This happens several times in 'Cloudgazer'. She usually can catch herself and focus on some issue at hand though. #WriteSky #AmWriting
Beautiful idea ! I first thought it's a pane of stained glas proper lit from behind.
I think it works very well ! ✨
Here are some Solarpunk or hope inspired pieces I made in the past. #Hopepit #artsky
Layer isle, an earthship house and a person overlooking the regrowth of a concreted landscape in the shadow of coorporate owers. ⛅ All in aquarelles.
Yea it's like our phone usage. But with way better UX. It's convenient for the powers that be to drag most people onto their playing field. Think like Dennou Coil, Summer Wars or Cyberpunk 2077
For Vela it's sort of easier. Due to her upbringing Vela is rather unconnected with Alliance society anyway, the culture events and VR. Not having a VR rig for most of her life had her singled out, but she never minded. Her interests are quite out there with meteorology, reading and biking.
I'll start with Belle. She comes from outside the Alliance, from a tradeworld. Her interest in the power-structure of the Alliance would not be popular with most of her quite content peers who maybe never left their planet, village or commune. She leads a double life between commune and merc career.

Just signals here. Maybe no one's into the nitty gritty of sensor-tech or legalese in 'Cloudgazer' #WIPSnips #Writesky
Hi #hopepit , I'm Kami.
I work on my sci-fi novel 'Cloudgazer' featuring some hopeful visions of civilizations that live in tune with their planets.
And several shortstories that touch on transformative topics.
I get hope from seeing how plants overtake in spring, seeing everything green up.
Vela would drive a dirtbike, she had one already. Ofcourse being utterly oblivious to how odd that might come off in a city.
Belle would drive a sportscar, but she might be too tall for most models to properly enjoy it.
A flatscreen display on a "smart" water fountain, demanding to be reconnected to the internet.
In 1999, I was playing a decker in Shadowrun, and tried to distract a guard by hacking a water fountain to overflow, and my GM said "why would a water fountain be on the network? That's fucking stupid. No you can't try."
Well it's 2026 and I just want you to know, Phil, that I FUCKING CALLED IT!
Emotional scenes. And wrapping things up. That coincides in my current two shortstories that sit at like 90 %. 🫠
An overgrown dockingtower in the distance, past a river and city. In aquarelle and ink liners. On an A3 sheet between strewn about art supplies. Ordered by hand-access speed.
Cropped version of the overview photo.
Layertower. Possibly Vela walking up to a vast docking tower in disrepair. Overgrown antique spaceport under a green tidal gas giant. - Aquarelle A3 with lines added in grey and black.

Thats way better. These scenes built lore and character 😅
A hired stalker that got roughed up by Belle. He ejected it when she apprehended him. They wanted to bring it back to the ship for analysis, buried it deep in the bag. And Vela got so distracted with the unknown restaurant menue and everything later that she forgot about it. 🫠
No one really wants to deal with Belle (a 2.1 tall cyborg lady) who watches this for a moment play out, then flashes her Red Dragon ID and tells them to choose a bribe or the surprise.
This happes in Cloudgazer and Vela gets into a load of trouble when they want to get back to the ship after .. several events.
She carries a big plastic bag containing alcohol, smoke damaged clothes, a torn off cyberarm, a gun, a techmagic ledger and a twelve pack of princess muffins.
