The people mover track leading towards One Campus Martius, the headquarters of Bedrock and Quicken Loans. They're one of, if not the largest landowner in Detroit. Hudson's Detroit, the skyscraper on the right, was their brain child for a new central location for themselves and General Motors.

The obvious joke is there's no mangroves in Michigan. Besides that, it's always made me aware from a young age of how quickly things can change.

I respect the hell out of that early cognitive training, in dad-joke form, of course!

When I was a kid, my dad used to say in an old lady voice "This used to be orange groves as faaaarr as the eye could see," when driving us down Hall Road in Macomb County, Michigan.

It's a dense commercial corridor, which up until the 1980's was the rural northern limits of Detroit's metropolis.

The apathy towards history in our current world is sad for so many reasons. I think donating them to historical societies is the best thing you can do to fight that trend! The public will be thanking you for decades, or even centuries!

Macomb Twp is losing its semi-rural feel to it. I understand that people prefer to live in new houses, but I don't understand why anyone would want to live in one of the hundreds of cookie cutter mansions that are replacing the farms. Those houses are so soulless and ugly!

True, but the traffic there isn't nearly as bad as it was before Garfield connected to 25/Romeo Plank. It just feels unnecessary to widen the road for a roundabout. These houses, and the liquor store, are cultural artifacts of Macomb Twp's German heritage.
