I wrote a whole blog post about how I go through queries and decide request/reject, and it's now disappeared into the ether 🫠

By conflicting policies, do you mean how different agencies have different policies for certain things? (Like submitting to another agent after one passes?)

#CampRevPit is 1st page swaps, positivity passes, and community prompts. It’s all run by authors from the #RevPit community because the editors are all in our editing caves. It’s definitely a nice way to come down from the chaos of the annual contest + make some great connections with other writers

But that same ms got me an R&R which got me my FABULOUS agent. My debut, WHEN YOU WRITE BACK, is coming out with a trad publisher in less than a year. All this to say, keep at it! I want to clarify that #RevPit #10Queries is not the same as the top 10. Editors pick subs for 10Queries based on feedback that can benefit any writer. There may be overlap with top picks, but it's necessarily not a direct correlation. Several of my shortlist were not in my 10Queries and vice versa.

If you need to take a step back, then do so. Consider your mental health + your wants and needs. Publishing is really hard and #RevPit is a small taste. If you can bounce back, that's great! You're on your way to great things. It's that resilience that will lead you to success.

On the flip side, some manuscripts would require a longer time window than we have to prepare for the showcase. You're literally threading a needle submitting to #RevPit, and you've already taken an amazing step just by entering.

So join #CampRevPit. Connect with people. Find your writer friends.

We were not looking for perfect stories. In fact, if yours is ready, it wouldn't be chosen, because there's no work for us to do!
