Update: they wrote their own rules for logs and I haven’t had to review it yet. :)

Strips of paper with log and exponential problems incompletely cut as a preparation for a card sort discovery activity. All in a car.
I haven’t posted in a while but with the ridiculous week I needed some math love. Getting ready to intro logs tomorrow in Algebra 2. While waiting for basketball practice to end. #mathsky #cmcmath

Had an amazing day of looking at publishers for a textbook adoption with my dedicated, amazing teachers. I’m the luckiest TOSA ever.
Love this. I’m currently working on a pilot selection day and I’m torn because some teachers will hear “keep doing what you’ve always done” and some will read a script from the book. The gray area is where the magic happens.
I’m glad you found a place at Mater Dei. Declining enrollment is definitely the trend impacting all of us right now.
I’m excited about this platform picking up in the midst of the utter chaos. We need each other more than ever. 💙
Congratulations!!!
Basket full of pink valentines taped to pencils that say “parallel lines have so much in common… it’s a shame that they’ll never meet”
Never too busy for valentines.
Let’s be more realistic though, 17/2 cookies per child 😂
Came here to say that this made me consider that unit fractions have a 1 in the numerator and unit rates have a 1 in the denominator. And I never thought about it before now. 🥸
I’ve always used multiple reps and color code them in each rep. I have 2 non English speaking Ss this year and the only extra I do is translate the word and notes and 1:1 point to the thing and say the word in English & Spanish.
Just came to the same conclusion this afternoon!
I came to say trashketball but since that’s taken I’ll throw in castle attack.
True. But having them show up ready to learn and motivated would be an epic potion.
Do it!!!!
Cross posting this because everyone needs to apply for this amazing experience. 📣

Can we concoct a potion that handles behavior problems??
Sarah Carter @ mathequalslove has puzzles galore with the added bonus of printing them so you can always replace missing pieces.
I’m going to France in June so I’ve been immersing myself in historical fiction (my jam!). Happy to hear it’s great! :) thanks!!! 🙏
Do you recommend seeing it in theaters or waiting for home?
Hi #EduSky ! Hoping to help build our community again here! I teach math and support teachers in a high school only district in Southern California.
I have missed the community and so far this is the first platform that feels promising!
I am working on genuinely implementing learning targets and scales. It has been a challenge keeping up with pre and post assessments to track data with multiple sub days (TOSA) but overall I’ve seen a difference in achievement. Next year will be easier 🤞 Also, you’re amazing for these prompts!

Teacher writing on a wipebook with grids drawn to show a billiard ball path along 45 degree angles with different dimensions of a table.
PD day started off with the Billiard Ball Problem and it was so engaging, it was hard to move on to the next portion. Thanks Mike Flynn for sharing the problem with us at CMC South! #ITeachMath
🙌 and if only there were less to cover so we could spend more time on less!
Hi everyone!
1) I am a HS Alg 1A Teacher/ HS District Math TOSA in Southern CA
2)my highlight is that I’m in year 3 of TOSAing in this district and I feel like I have built/earned some solid relationships where we can accomplish some important work.
#iteachmath (do CAPS matter here?)
Thank you!
Line graph of female CEOs increasing compared to male CEOs named James and John in the S&P 500. In 2023 there were 41 females, 23 named John and 18 named James.
I’ve been using @jennalaib.bsky.social slow reveal graphs in class to practice interpreting graphs. One S blurted out “that’s not fair” when this title appeared. Exactly.
Yes! I love that word so much more.
