Post Carolina Fiber Fest I had such an excellent time at the Carolina Fiber Festival. On Thursday I took a spinning class and learned a lot more about how to prep to get the yarn you want and how to work best with your wheel. I do think the instructor was a bit thrown off by my e-spinner but I still had a wonderful time in the class.

See my haul from the Carolina Fiber Fest!

Pre Carolina Fiber Festival The Carolina Fiber Festival is this week and I'm so excited for it. I'm taking a spinning class on Thursday and then just enjoying the event on Friday. I'm hoping that it will be less crowded if I go early on Friday. Going early also means I get first dibs on the best yarn and fiber. In none festival news, I've got some finished objects to share!

Handspun Yarn Review: Falling in Love and Tree Frog Source: Three Waters FarmColorway: Falling in LoveFiber Content: 100% FalklandWeight: 4oz Ply: 2-ply Twist Direction: Singles - ZPlied - S Spin Rating: 5/5Yarn Rating: 3/5 This was my first spin on the Ashford e-Spinner. It took 6 days to spin 4oz of a bulky weight yarn. The fiber was lovely. It didn't fight me as I drafted and didn't have any VM or neps.

Yarn in progress I've been enjoying my new e-spinner immensely. I haven't finished any more yarn but I'm working on some really fun tweedy fiber from Walnut Farm Designs called Taste the Rainbow. I have 8oz of Taste the Rainbow so I'm hoping for a more substantial skein when I'm done spinning but I still have quite a long way to go. I did end up getting some new fiber from…

A fun tweedy yarn in progress as well as some new acquisitions. Come read about it on knitnotpurl.com!

Electric spinning I have acquired a new tool. I'm very lucky that my company gives a generous bonus each year, and while most of mine went to bills and savings, I did splurge on something fairly large. I purchased a brand new Ashford e-Spinner 3! It came last week and I've already spun two full skeins (4oz each) in that time. It's definitely a workhorse and just a pleasure to spin with.

I have a new toy! Come read all about it :)

Mostly the same I've been knitting on both my Sophie Hood and the new border to my Soft Full Moon shawl. They look pretty much exactly the same as before. The Sophie Hood is a bigger and the Soft Full Moon shawl has more border around it, but they don't look all that different. I've been knitting away at both in turns. I took the shawl to knit night with my friends last week and made some great progress, but I'd forgotten how time consuming it is to knit all the way around a shawl with even a small edging.

More snow, less bravery Here in NC we had a big snow dump over the weekend. Where we live we were actually in the "dry zone" for this storm which means we didn't get as much as most of the rest of the state, but we did get a good amount eventually. You'd think this means I got a lot of my Soft Full Moon shawl edging done but no.

I’ve started taking my lunches outside at our new office building at work. It’s been lovely weather and I’m listening to my favorite book while knitting on my Jelly Roll blanket. #knitting #knitsky #knit #jellyrollblanket
