Embroidered cat with a mouse on a cross shaped backing with a blue border that says “a Catte”
As I sit here trying to find my motivation under a pile of existential dread I present this cat to cheer you up (embroidery from Mary Queen of Scots “a Catte” c. 1569-84 from Holyrood Palace)
Church of St Mary in Snettisham is a C14th Decorated church with a tower and spire of 175 feet. As it sits on a hill there's a good view over a sheep meadow and the village cricket ground. #churches #Norfolk
Two European Shags on a cliffside. They are green, with yellow bits below their eyes, and their eyes are green. They have impressive black feather crests on their heads. They're both looking out to sea to the left. The rocks arounds them are grey and there are some brown grasses beneath them.
I wasn't expecting to see birds on this trip, but there were a few European Shags dotted on the cliffs at Arnarstapi today. What beautiful birds they are!

Side view of a Sweet violet flower with pinkish lilac and white petals, against a blur of soft green grass.
I remembered to go and see how the patch of Viola odorata f. lilacina is getting on. A few more flowers are open now and they’re heart-stoppingly beautiful. #WildflowerHour

A small, energetic bird with olive-green plumage and a striking bright yellow crest perches on a thin, moss-covered branch. Its wide, alert eyes and slightly open beak give it a curious and watchful expression. The blurred background of soft greens and earthy browns creates a natural, tranquil setting, highlighting the bird’s vivid colors and delicate features.
How's that for a hairdo? Saffron-crested Tyrant-Manakin at Mitú, Vaupes, Colombia.

A 2-centimeter section of a twig with at least 5 types of lichen and a few tufts of moss growing together. Two types of light, leafy green lichens and deep green moss are on top, splotches of bright yellow candleflame lichen are interspersed throughout, and a lovely patch of several rim disc lichen spots with gray centers and white rims. Some light green oak moss antlers hang from the bottom of the stick.
It’s already been a long week, so take a moment to enjoy the lichen community growing on this 2-centimeter long twig section. You deserve it. #Lichen #FungiFriends #Moss #ISeeMoss #LichenSunscribe #Nature #Photography #Macro #PNW #Breathe #GoOutside #Notice

'The Bad Sower.' (1908) Gustave van de Woestyne painted in a very personal symbolist style; his pictures reveal a strong influence of Pieter Breughel and other Flemish primitive masters, whose work had deeply impressed him at an exhibition in Bruges in 1902.

Snettisham on a sunny day last week. One of my favourite beaches. As well as the beach, birds and sea, I like the wild area and wet lands alongside. #Snettisham #birds #wetlands #Norfolk
