Presenting my research in Austria wasn’t on the bingo card for PGY-2 year, but with great mentorship here I am!

We found no difference in primary endpoint of 30-day clinical failure for patients receiving combo (n=91) vs mono (n=99) therapy for monomicrobial, deep-seated S maltophilia infections

Step 3: antibiotic!

Using meropenem-vaborbactam for this KPC-3 Enterobacter cloacae. Started with a loading dose over 30 minutes, then doing 3-hour extended infusions every 8 hours with the syringe pump.

Learning about SEV (simulated endocardial vegetation) models! ID pharmacy residents at UK can spend a month in the PK/PD lab at the college and learn how to do bench top studies.

Step 1: make the clot, then inoculate it with organism (working with Enterobacter cloacae with KPC-3)
