But government and industry have to do a much better job of working with the Indigenous communities where much of this geothermal energy lies. Yayut 陳怡萱 has been doing great work on this:

Today I turn 89. I’ve seen this country at its best and its worst, and I know how much community matters. For my birthday, I’m asking you to stand with PFLAG and support the work that’s helped so many in the LGBTQ+ community, including me. give.pflag.org/page/95493/d...

1998: there are thousands of cool websites all hyperlinked together.
2026: there are four cool websites each with same content and the same images.
Some people have misunderstood this.
We literally saw how Claude itself, coded by Claude, turns one API call into a DOS of thousands upon thousands of API calls done in the sloppiest fucking way possible.
This postmortem shows Bluesky vibecoded a function to DOS itself, in a similarly stupid way.
Very excited to share my new paper w/ Wen-Cheng Lin & Wen-Chin Wu.
Using panel data from 108 countries between 2000 and 2020, we find that Chinese aid is significantly associated with decline in media freedom in recipient countries.

Played around with a cocktail to help launch #TaipeiScienceCafe #台北科普咖啡 tonight. I call it the "Science Experiment" because it was definitely one last night, playing around with graduated cylinders, taring scales, and remembering saturation principles. Come have a taste if you're in Taipei! 🧪🥃☕️

Not my hobby, but my job: “String” is information — facts, quotes, etc.
Getting info for a story? You’re gathering string.
Sending info to another reporter or editor? You’re feeding them string.
A freelancer who regularly gathers info for a news outlet or wire service? You’re a stringer.
"Our Earth Is Never Quiet! What Is It Telling Us?" Is tonight!!! #Taiwan 🧪
New: Thomson Reuters, which runs the CLEAR database ICE uses, fired a longstanding employee for speaking out against ICE, a new lawsuit says. Billie Little led an internal effort raising concerns; was fired. We've shown CLEAR is linked to ICE's Palantir tool

Another advantage for approved artists, is that I’ve added a ton of hashtags related to SciArt.
If they forget to add #SciArt or 🐡 while posting say, #paleoart or #SundayFishSketch, it will appear in the SciArt Feed. Reduces friction.
This is a main value proposition of following the SciArt Feed instead of just the #SciArt hashtag. Anyone can post AI slop on the hashtag.
But I’ve checked every contributor before allowing them to post in the SciArt Feed. If they do, I delete them as a contributor and all their posts disappear. 🐡
The SciArt Feed here on Bluesky is gated so I can keep Gen AI out.
If someone posts AI, I boot them and it disappears. I think it’s happened twice in 2.5 years. A worry-free feed.
