This historic, old cast-iron gatepost, shaped like a gnome, stands in the gateway of a tenement house that is currently being renovated. It most likely dates from the late 19th century.

Disraeli and Gladstone were both politicians of extraordinary ability - but their personalities clashed and they heartily loathed each other.

An oil painting depicting the climax of Tennyson's poem. A woman with wild, swirling hair stands in a circular room, tangled in the colorful, chaotic threads of a broken tapestry. She is turning away from a large, cracked, round mirror on the wall, which reflects a knight on horseback (Sir Lancelot). The scene is full of movement and detail, featuring flying doves, a large ornate silver candlestick on the right, and a floor strewn with irises. She wears a detailed bodice and skirt, with her expression showing shock and despair as her cursed life in the tower falls apart. The painting is housed in a decorative frame featuring small circular paintings of the Virgin Mary and Hercules. (WIKI)

Bees on an ancient seal, looking strangely like pharaohs from the torso up with angelic wings.
Bees are sacred to Apollo, and honey has been offered to the gods for three thousand years, since the days of Mycenae. The Oracle at Delphi was offered honey and said to be a Bee, bringing prophecy down from Apollo; apiaries were connected to the god as well. #FairyTaleTuesday

A picture of me stood next to the early medieval stone high cross known as Muiredach’s Cross at Monasterboice on a bright sunny day
What a beautiful bright sunny day! It was perfect to see the detail on the magnificent Muiredach’s Cross at Monasterboice.
The cross is the finest example in the country (in my subjective opinion!). A masterpiece of 10th century Irish art.

Photo of the Trundholm Sun Chariot, featuring a horse figure pulling a large, gilded bronze disk on a wheeled frame. The disk is partially covered in gold leaf with intricate circular patterns, symbolizing the sun. The sculpture is mounted on six spoked wheels and displayed against a dark background.
The Trondheim Sun Chariot is dated to the Early Bronze Age, approximately 1400 BC. The spiral decorations on its golden sun disc indicates its Nordic origin. The Sun Chariot represents the sun's eternal journey, drawn by a divine horse. The sun and horse....🧵1/2
