Trying very hard to get an unreleased Software Creations SNES game to run. I have source code and data, but no ROM image. I'm assembling the 65c816 code and data ROM banks using our original IDE running under DOS Box. Lots of hackery is taking place to try and get the game to run! Time for bed now..

That is not bad! It took over a year for deliveries to Canada to resume after the worst of the pandemic was over.
I once went from Kumamoto, Japan to Commodoro Rivadavia, Argentina, via Germany, over the course of 3 days. The antipode of Kumamoto is actually a bit further north (in southern Brazil), but almost the other side of of the world.
My copy of Chrono Trigger all looks like this (not the label, thankfully). The game is sitting is in a drawer, not exposed to light, even!
A photo taken outside of my car, showing the passenger side dashboard, with a Super Mario red mushroom and invincibility star.
I got some accessories for my new car. ;)
I took the Super Game Boy code I made for Petal Crash GBC and made a code example that shows off booting custom SNES code and then having the Game Boy side send files to the SNES as needed.

I got the CD soundtrack of the first two GB Castlevania games (it is a double disc with Castlevania IV). The soundtrack is awesome!
Hard4Games has a new video out showcasing an oddity, a GameCube controller test cart that was on the Super Famicom. youtu.be/ZrfJiLW-SIo?...
A promo from Weekly Famitus
Dropping in from space to Japan 32 years ago today: SUPER METROID.
Its arrival was heralded by promos like this, which looks like it uses a photo of a Samus Aran figurine. Very cool stuff that emphasies the forbidding horror aspect.
One of the Goatiest GOATS. Share your love for it, peeps <3
RetroRGB has a post about a new conversion of Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest for the SNES. It looks interesting, but I have yet to try these NES to SNES conversions. retrorgb.com/castlevania-...
To say Game Player's was a confusing magazine to sort would be an understatement.

I hope so. Every time I go to Beep, I feel like I am going to knock everything over.
I was really sad when Friends closed, if Beep is gone, is there any reason to go to Akihabara anymore?
Box art for a Super Nintendo game called Ice Hockey, depicting 3 players, a large player on the left, a medium sized one in the middle, and a taller skinnier one on the right, all dressed in white and blue uniforms. The game is rated Kicks-Ass, has the Super NES Rumble Pad support icon, and the Rumbleminze logo of a beagle on the box.
A special extra port that I did over the last week or so. Ice Hockey! In honor of the double gold medal winning USA Men's and Women's hockey teams at the Olympics!
No big features here other than a bit of rumble support if you've got the LRG controller.

Your #NES and #SNES just got a triple dose of chaos—and they're OUT NOW! 🎮
Mega Cat Studios has released Plyuk, Old Towers, and Super Fanger today! Climb towers, outsmart a creepy lab, and pop your way through three completely different adventures.
A picture of me standing in a green pipe like in Super Mario Bros. I am holding my right arm in the air. Behind me is a mural of Mario series characters and Kumamoto written in Super Mario World font. It is outdoors.
Mario event at Kumamoto Station!
One problem was that I was initially manually creating the yaml files, which could be ingested into my scripts, but could not be written out properly for some reason. It was a good lesson that for a complex database, you need an SQL.
Believe me when I say the yaml solution was unworkable. The complexity of my database meant that just loading some of the database files would take several seconds. I think for what you are doing it is probably fine, but it was not working well and was breaking for me.
You may ask how that was possible, but each attempt I got better at coding and learning how to implement a database. The first attempt was using YAML files, and that was unworkable! Let no one tell you that vibe coding with AI is ok, you learn so much by trying and failing.
I started up my third attempt at a SNES Central database, this time with SQlite. I have already surpassed my second attempt (which was in PostgreSQL) in just 4 days!
One of the Discord peeps let me know that The Secret of Monkey Island is being ported to the SNES by making use of MSU-1. github.com/astrobleem/S...
Oh neat, with that we should have all Satellaview versions of Quintet‘s Super Famicom games preserved!
(Gaia Gensouki and Slapstick didn’t get broadcast demos from as far as I know.)
This is pretty amazing when I think about how many times I see the most popular N64 titles in the cheap bin for 300 yen or less.

This is one of those cancelled first party game prototypes from the gigaleak.

Aging test v 1.00. Mosaic pixel size is left at 0 (1x1 pixels for 256-pixel modes) which shows up a bug seen only in 512-pixel modes! Not all SNES emulators emulate this...
Aging test v 1.02. Mosaic pixel size is disabled after test, fixing the bug seen only in 512-pixel modes.
I had a look at early SFC aging tests. The earliest 1.00 version is interesting. It has different sprites & BG examples from the 1.02 version, and also had a bug: when the 1.00 version goes from its mosaic test to the 512-pixel test, they forget to turn off mosaic (fine for 256-mode but not 512)!

I have started listening to Seikima II recently (a logical start for Japanese power metal), and I have to ask the question: did the Power Glove get a release in Japan? youtu.be/iDZzWSPWNlM?...
