I wrote a chapter that was two 8-year old girls sending video messages to each other, and I spent a few days walking around our neighborhood talking out loud in character to find their voices.

It worked, but I bet I looked really weird to anybody who saw me doing it.

I've always watched/listened to people a lot, and sometimes I have to remind myself that it might seem creepy 😁

As a teacher and a parent and a news junkie, this hits hard.
