40 Years Ago Today (March 25, 1986).
Starting that night we couldn't always see DeForest Kelley for the trees.

50 years ago today on March 22, 1976, filming began on a movie that would change the way we watch movies. A young actor named Mark Hamill stepped onto the sands of Tunisia to film the first scene.
The rest is history from a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

100 years ago today Robert Goddard launched mankind's first successful liquid-fueled rocket. The Space Age as well as the Arms Race owe their thanks to Goddard's monumental achievement of March 16, 1926.

25 years ago today and on the last lap of the Daytona 500 we lost Dale Earnhardt.
One of the greatest talents in auto racing left us at the age of only 49. Rest well, Intimidator. You were and remain a legend. Thanks for the entertainment.

A new chapter in the Star Trek mythology begins tonight. Starfleet Academy's first episode has dropped!

Christopher Pike (still wearing his Commander's rank braids) takes command of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 from his friend, Captain Robert April, the two men captured together for posterity in an image taken in the year 2250.

Happy 100th Birthday to one of the giants of 20th century comedy, the irrepressible and irreplaceable Dick Van Dyke. The worlds of television, film, comedy and music would not be the same without him. We love you, Dick! Even the bad accents!

"Few will have the greatness to bend #history itself, but each of us can work to change a small portion of events. It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped."

On October 23, 1925, the greatest talent to ever sit behind a talk show desk anywhere on this planet was born in Corning, Iowa. Happy Centennial, Johnny Carson. We still miss you.

I sympathize with Sundance. I can't swim, neither. π
RIP Robert Redford. Sundance has ridden into the sunset.

Thirty years ago today on September 12, 1995, the greatest actor to ever take on the role of Sherlock Holmes left us. Jeremy Brett was Conan Doyle's whimsy made flesh.

Here's a comparison of the Gorn bodysuit, worn by the actors/stuntmen playing the Gorn in #StarTrekSNW's "Terrarium" and #StarTrekTOS' "Arena". I like how the hands, legs, knees and feet are very similar to the original (the Gorn on #StarTrekENT was three-fingered, for example).
59 years ago tomorrow on September 8, 1966, the final frontier opened up before us, and the possibilities became endless.

We get some really good shots of the Stamets-type shuttle Archimedes (NCC-1701/8) in #StarTrekSNW's "Terrarium". I believe this is also the first time that the shuttle's name at the front of the shuttle is legible on the show.
