Male bullfinch eating a dandelion seed on a patio.
Feeling happy that I'm a lazy gardener leaving dandelions seeding around the garden, as I spotted this handsome bullfinch and his friends hopping about eating them. #gardening #nature

A woman in a yellow shirt and blue skirt rides a bicycle along a cycle path in the Dutch countryside lined with tall trees, narrow creeks, and farmer's fields.
The COVID-19 pandemic offered new insights around the impact of the built environment on mental health, with the prevalence of the car in our cities and lives severely limiting our ability to create restorative spaces. Here are three takeaways for planners wanting to promote better mental health...π§΅
A book -A Psalm for The Wild Built by Becky Chambers, resting in the sunshine in long grass. The cover features a drawing of a robot with a butterfly, a long winding road with flowers and a non-binary monk with a cup of tea on a pedal wagon.
Had such a lovely time reading this little book - A Psalm for the Wild Built by Becky Chambers. If you need to feel hopeful about humanity I would thoroughly recommend it! Any recommendations for what to read next? #Booksky #Solarpunk #Hopepunk

Hello, this is an old 'omlet' coop, which we were lucky enough to get second hand a few years ago. It can hold up to 3 hens but we find 2 is enough for us, it has a little best box and roosts inside. It is made of plastic so it is easy to clean also. It fairly easy to move, the new ones have wheels.
2 brown hens inside a green pen on a lawn with fruit trees and daffodils
The chickens are enjoying being back on grass after a winter stuck on mulch. Their pen gets moved every day onto fresh grass. π±π #gardening #chickens

3 young fruit trees on a grassy hill, with daffodils in bloom underneath.
I read that daffodils are beneficial to fruit trees in grasslands, they help to repel rabbits and suppress the grass next to the trunk, so I underplanted some last autumn and they are up! They'll look good in a few years time... #gardening #permaculture #orchard #daffoldils #springtime

A clump of small but mighty Tete a Tete daffodils.
She wore her yellow sun-bonnet,
She wore her greenest gown;
She turned to the south wind
And curtsied up and down.
She turned to the sunlight
And shook her yellow head,
And whispered to her neighbour:
"Winter is dead."

Blob of frogspawn in a messy pond with lots of plants and some dead leaves in.
Messy wildlife pond springing to life, with Tete a teta daffodils and marsh marigolds in bloom.
Celebrating a small victory today, frogspawn has appeared in our wee wildlife pond, had to wait a few years!ππ±πΈ #gardening #ukgardening #ukwildlife

Of all the concepts that humankind needs to absorb + act on with extreme urgency, this tops the list.
Thank you!
Thanks!
