A statue of two humanoid figures looking out over a lagoon. On the other side, people and couples walk along the lagoon, or are sitting on benches. Some trees are sprouting with the Spring, others are just starting. Behind all that, a single tall building.
The statue is less focused than the world across from it as the inspiration was the idea of "the world the subject sees."
So I realized it was #MonochromeMonday and a thought hit me: Outside b&w film, I rarely consider how my photos look in black and white and typically use it as a crutch when focus is off.

A library with 6 columns in front of it. Above the columns, it's name "Ritter Library." A flagpole hosts the US and Ohio flags at full mast. As well in front of the library is an ice sculpture of a rabbit. The surrounding area is covered in snow and the trees are bare.
The image gets gradiently darker towards the bottom due to a shutter issue which left part of the original image unexposed.

A brick building with an overhang covering the doorway. Atop the overhang is a business sign, "Sheetz." To the left of the sign is a security camera.
Due to a shutter issue, the left quarter of the image is unexposed.

Thankfully a couple have been recoverable, but typically the majority have been lost. Wish I'd noticed the commonality after developing the Arista 400 instead of now.

In the dark of the night, an ATM sits alone in a parking lot. Behind it is a bit of greenery which divides two lots. As well behind it is a small lit pavilion.
Canon 7 w/ 50mm Canon LTM Ilford HP5 Plus f2.8 1/15
To the right, a set of waterfalls follow the path of a river which flows into the foreground. Overlooking the falls, atop a small cliff, is a brick apartment building with an additional side building. The opposite bank is rocky with some elements hanging over the river. Trees litter the area, currently barren due to the recent winter.
Additionally, to the furthest right of the image is an underexposed dark spot caused by an issue with the camera's shutter.

Tried HP5 as part of figuring out my top #B&WFilm stocks.
Bad News: My Canon has a shutter problem at 1/1000.
Worse News: I shot a whole roll of Ultramax at that setting.

At sunrise, a concrete pier extends out surrounded by a frozen lake. There are patches of snow along the pathway, as well as on the rocks of the breakwater, flanking the pier, and on the frozen surface of the lake.
ISO 400 f8 1/640
Argued with myself between a few edits of this. Meanwhile, since the year started, temps have mostly been below freezing, with variable snowfall each week.

A branch of leaves in the sunset
People gathered in front of a TBM Avenger aircraft exhibiting at an air show. A flagstaff, mounted in its cockpit, carries a US flag.
At The Corner of Carnegie and Ontario (what the signs say,) people watching baseball. Above: stats for the game.
Ford Trimotor Airplane sitting between runs.
So I may have opened one of my Christmas gifts early. What I'm learning is it's worth it to order the higher resolution scans, if you don't want to do it yourself.

A bee inspecting a flower. The bee isn't nearly as in focus as the flowers in the foreground.
Looking back on the year: I bought a Tokina macro back in May for film scanning (before I even considered getting my FE.) Shame I haven't used it much, outside why I bought it.

In the foreground, railroad tracks cross the lower scene leading to a bridge. The area is heavy with trees. Hope Memorial Bridge breaks the scene up in the center dividing the fore and back grounds, with some old brick buildings tucked below the bridge to the left. In the background, the Cleveland Skyline shows above the bridge on a nice summer evening.
Still reviewing pictures, I'm surprised this one has been hiding under my radar. The contrast of the skyline and the trees. Plus, the brick buildings tucked under the bridge.

Aboard a funicular looking up at the upper station. The station has a limestone foundation with light green siding walls and darker green trim.
A hillside covered by the tree line. Above it a retaining wall, with some rust splotches, with Bayer written horizontally and vertically in a cross with the y as its center. Above that, a grey cloud thick sky.
I don't often look back on my old photos (because most aren't that impressive.) These photos turn 10 years old next year, and are among the first and best shots I took on a "real" camera (not an iPod or disposable Fuji/Kodak.)

I am so furious at YouTube for doing this. You have literal gambling ads plastered across your website. The video you take action on contains no real gambling, and is promoting an LGBTQ+ children's charity fundraiser. Absolutely horrendous image and optics for the website. Completely moronic

Feels funny that a little over a year ago I was annoyed with my phone camera because only on an SLR could I have enough zoom to get a picture of that danged woodpecker.
Since then I've shot 1/3 my lifetime of photos, with 1/10 of those being shot on my 12 mini

Reminds me of the story of the time my great grandfather learned to fly. He got his pilots license and wanted to show off to his mom, but she wouldn't fly. So that was the end of that.

Feels crazy that in the process of typing that post I turned from "welp that happened, at least the image was saved" to "welp that happened, and those leaks were pretty well placed."
Went from owning a mistake to celebrating it.

Admittedly, I need to do my own scans for my website, since I use a slightly higher resolution. Hopefully that can fix the green hues, because, despite half being somewhat underexposed, I like the night photos I got on the FE.

So I'm doing a write-up on my "newest" camera, and I can't help but find my opening line wild. "Four score and a decade ago, Kodak introduced [Kodachrome]."
To think this year marks 90 years since the release of the first major color film.
