I'd always wanted to learn photography, Finally in the mid 2000s I picked up a Canon A1 and some lenses from a coworker. Within a year I was shooting 4x5 and then started with medium format the year after. I've shot digital a handful of times and I don't hate it, but it doesn't speak to me the same.

I don't know the math around aperture comparisons, but f/2 on a 6x6 frame is close to my Nikon f/1.2 on 35mm, even maybe slightly more shallow so your f/1.25 is probably close. The math doesn't really say much though since it's square vs a wide rectangle, so the feel is very different.
