On the next 3 pictures included with this post, there is a short horror story inspired by this capture and starting the host and co-host of #PalaceandGardens Sabine and AnnaLois
My tale is called “It Rises” and is in three parts. Please enjoy that after you have read today’s picture description.
Our picture shows a haunting view within Glasnevin Cemetery, focused on a narrow, sunken passage that leads down into the crypts.
The scene is mostly in black and white, giving it a cold, timeless feeling, but the sky above is tinted an eerie purplish-pink, as if twilight has been unnaturally stretched.
In the foreground, a stone walkway slopes downward between two low brick walls. The path is made of worn, uneven paving stones, darkened with age and dampness.
The walls on either side feel enclosing, guiding you toward a small set of steps at the far end. Beyond those steps, the cemetery opens out, rows of old gravestones and monuments of varying sizes stand in quiet clusters, some tall and ornate, others leaning slightly with age.
To the right, a large, dense tree looms heavily over the scene, its dark foliage forming a thick canopy that blocks much of the sky.
On the left, more trees and gravestones stretch into the distance, fading slightly into the dim light. The entire space feels still and hushed, as though sound itself has been absorbed by the stone and earth.
And finally, our picture is finished with a simple, white border frame.
