Another great way to give kids a strong start is to fully fund libraries. 😍
Looking forward to it. Looks much more hopeful than many recent titles, so should do well!
August is not a great time for anyone involved in school. Maybe the weekend of the 17-19th? I like the flexibility of hours that MotherReader had.
Graphic memoir! Nayberg's @holidayhouse.bsky.social Chernobyl, Life, and Other Disasters is an interesting look at this disaster. msyinglingreads.blogspot.com/2026/04/cher...
I am always up to host a 48 hour readathon! Missed this one, but maybe in July when it's too hot to do anything else?
Ooh. That's good.
Granted, I don't know the chemistry behind polyester, but I can identify gingham, dotted swiss, eyelet, velour, twill, tweed, and pique fabric.
My students do not know that jeans are made of denim that is mainly cotton. They do not know the difference between woven and knit fabric. Nobody seems to know that polyester is made from petroleum-based compounds.
THANK YOU. Good luck finding something. If you need recs, let me know!
Comedy is hard to write. Horrible things are easier? So tired of the sheer amount of it. Not saying it's responsible for all the kids being sad, but starting to have questions.

Starting to wonder if any #MGLit publishers/editors ever talk to any kids ages 11-14. I think authors get out and talk to kids, but... I'm so confused. After 24 years, still asking for more humorous books and sports titles. Kids Doing Things instead of grieving. Sigh.
#MGLit horror authors: My students want books like Stine's FEAR STREET series, not GOOSEBUMPS. There's been a lot of cheesy horror on my TBR lately; just not going to fly.
It's tough for school libraries to have paperbacks. They don't last. Sadly, Follett doesn't have a copy, which also makes it hard.

The @fabledfilmspress.bsky.social fox from THE NOCTURNALS has been put to good use. My mother loved him, and now he's hanging out with my grandson!
I really enjoy robinmillercooks.com. She has a wide range of recipes and is active on Twitter. Lots of recipes on her web site. A friend who is just learning to cook has had lots of success with them!

I might have... um... ten copies, and eight of them are currently checked out. 😳
@kristinnilsen.bsky.social! The Pop Culture Preservation Society should take a look at @jrbarr.bsky.social Calkins Creek Books THUNDER AND MERCY (7/14/26). Set in 1979, it name drops songs, TV shows, and SHAUN CASSIDY!
I enjoyed the Hawthorne & Horowitz books and actually bought the first four. New. Foyle's War was great, but Foyle was very much like Alex Rider... there was never enough information about how he FELT. Very cryptic!
Taking a half day off to attend a virtual @anthonyhorowitz.com event would be... professional development, right?@barnesandnoble.com is hosting a virtual event on May 7th, at 1:00 p.m.!

Excellent question! I'm in middle school, but lost my aide in 2003. I see 5-10 classes a day (the teacher stays, which is a huge help!) but have a volunteer who does all my shelving. Used to have students do it. Could probably shelves everything between classes if pressed, but it would be hard.
