Interesting to see Starmer ('island of strangers') rebrand himself as Enoch Powell ('strangers in their own country') – albeit without the principles or charisma. Dangerous, divisive rhetoric that should have no place in politics

Utter madness. I've seen first hand how hard care work is – and how badly paid. Labour pandering to bigots won't win them votes. But it will destroy a care system that's already on its knees and wreck people's lives in the process.

UK sand eel fishing ban remains in place despite EU legal challenge Creatures make up the bulk of seabirds’ diet but they are fished for commercial pig food

I think I finally found a Brexit benefit. This is great news.

Oxford's Ben Nelson celebrating scoring in a 2-0 win against Sunderland to secure Championship status for next season

Amazing achievement from pre-season relegation favourites #oufc and Gary Rowett to secure championship status for next season. If the season had started when GR came in, we'd be 7th 🤯 👏👏👏 🟡🔵

Now we’re focusing on the Reflective practice part. Reflection is so powerful. The slide shows different ways of being reflective. I find walking helps. Anything where you can let your mind wander and get away from the screen. #T5S1 #LT25uk

Is inequality inevitable? Archaeological study of 50,000 dwellings over >10,000 years suggests it's not – neither is it a natural consequence of societal complexity, so much as a political choice.

Ancient Greek and Roman statues often smelled like roses, a new study says Ancient Greek and Roman statues didn't originally look like they do now in museums. A new study says they didn't smell the same, either.

New evidence shows that ancient Greek and Roman statues were multi-sensory experiences, not only painted with bright colors but also scented with perfumes, oils and waxes. #classicalstudies #museum #art 🏺

Hi @marklearns.bsky.social. If you have space, I'd highly recommend Dana for your starter pack. She's great!

Only watched a few mins of the second half but he looked like the best player on the pitch. That defence needs a lot of work!

That's a great goal too

Yeah it's tough. Maybe try an #L&D starter pack like Mark's? go.bsky.app/GuJAdsC – a great list of people to follow. You should be on that list too! Also, perhaps put something learning related in your profile. Any other tips @fionamcbride.bsky.social?

Praying for a performance. 3 points would be great. But bearing in mind our dire away form, think I'd still take a draw. Besides, who wants dull mid-table security? Keeps things interesting 😬

When you lose someone you love you realise how valuable your time spent together was. “Just hanging out” mattered. We knew this as children. We should know it again as adults.

Bit of a flurry to start with but has gone a little quiet. Most of my work network seem to use LinkedIn for their social media now. I'm not a big fan of that platform so guess I'll have to get busier on here!

As have been saying for some weeks, we need to listen to what Trump and Vance are telling us. In a generational move, they’re reorienting the United States towards Russia. “The West”, for now at least, is ceasing to exist or operate as a concept.

So often this discourse is presented by politicians and dinosaur businessmen as 'UK productivity's low because our workers are lazy' instead of trying to solve real policy & skills / tech investment issues. I'm probably at my most productive on a train – or would be if I could get a bloody signal!

Incredibly sad. So much good work has been done to clean up the river over the last couple of decades. Whoever caused this needs to be slapped with a huge fine. But I'm sure the EA will be as toothless as ever
