Are you a game accessibility person/disabled gamer in the LA area? Trying to get a list of local folks I can tap for upcoming in person engagements!
(Don’t worry if you aren’t local, there are also opportunities there as well)

this made me so happy ✨
One of the difficult lessons I learned over the years was that I needed to find my own identity, stuff that wasn't tied to my work or my "professional self." Not tied to hierarchies, job titles, or what I owed to others. ❤️
OMG this single post is way better than my thread. You nailed it.
Idk what the point of this thread is.
I guess the world can suck, the industry can be brutal, and it’s okay to find your joy and identify elsewhere. No one will judge.
I’m more than just a game dev, and I’m not limited by the opportunities the industry offers me.
And by being less online, I’ve been able to just be more… me.
I host karaoke at a dive bar sometimes???
I’m great at cross-stitch now?
I’ll always be a game dev. It made me who I am. It’s still my job and I still love it. I’m still a gamer too
But centering an industry that has been so volatile & disheartening really can have a negative impact on mental health.
Since leaving Xbox, I left a big part of that self branding behind.
I know I don’t owe anyone an explanation but I have made an effort to be less online and less “being a game dev is my personality.”
I volunteer at the local historical society. I bartend at a local brewery. I have friends in my town who don’t even know what my day job is or don’t even play games!

Michael, from the SpecialEffect team, explains the tech used to make games more accessible for players
Today we had the pleasure of hosting SpecialEffect, as they shared their vast experience in making games more accessible for all, as well as letting us get hands on with their tech. It's always great hearing about the incredible work they do, and how we, as game developers, can support this!
and another thing
They aren’t great 😫
Hi! I won’t be at GDC this year. I’ll be at my mom’s wedding. 💒
I find it hysterical my 6th great grandpa fought in the American Revolution for only me to be dual English/American citizenship anyway.
Overlays are widgets or technologies that promise to improve a site's accessibility with third-party source code. More than 1,000 accessibility advocates and web developers have signed an open letter to explain the limitations and dangers of these products.
