You know what the funny part is? I thought Iโm clever and make a template for cutting the holes. Much later I realized that this template was completely crooked. Itโs still a mystery to me how that happened ๐คฃ

there actually should not be much gap if any.
I cut the glass to fit exactly into the holes and itโs now also the template for the frames. It just means I have to cut each frame piece accordingly and canโt just cut 10 pieces in the same length which would be a lot faster ๐
Window frames for the entrance. The two small windows are done but I still need to make the second half of the big one ๐ซฃ
Finally started to work on the window frames. I decided to go with styrene here because wood was too fragile and a pain to glueโฆ
The issue here is that I managed to build every window uniquely crooked and I need to build every unique crooked frame twice (outside/inside) ๐

It is! โค๏ธ
Oh your welcome, glad to be of assistance ๐
It looks like everything is going smoothly, the goal is getting closer! ๐
This is coming together fantastically!
I must admit I love the little shovel especially ๐
nah above.
I think the light brown highlighting was too thin and therefore too dark. and then I slapped on the enamels too thick... and well it just did not turn out very nice....
soooo I messed up the test piece ๐
I think wood glue is holding very well but something went really wrong with the paint..........
Morning Stef! ๐ฅฑ๐ค
I just made a test with pva (currently drying)
let's see how it holds and if we can actually see a difference ;)
No problem! It really isnโt though ๐
Maybe I make another test with VMS and dilute wood glueโฆ
I normally prefer the sand and gravel fixer because itโs so thin it leaves every tiny stone nicely separated
Thatโs better xD
Every zone has the same 3 enamel paints slapped on over a quick coat Mahagoni primer highlighted with light brown
Fresh mud -> dark mud -> Kursk earth
The vms stuff is something similar to lava rock I think that's why it's not sticking so well compared to the smooth sand.
And yep it's painted but only very quickly in just the spots. I just wanted to see how kursk earth looks with the other two tones
Yeah, I forgot to rotate it and then was too lazy ๐
which left? because in the correct orientation VMS would be left.
I use sand and gravel Fixer which normally works great. Except this base was made from a different foam that really didn't like it (melted) So now it is a test area ๐คฃ
Just a test of different textures and paints
I heard you all like fake dirt!
Just some testingโฆ
Bottom: VMS brown earth (not really convinced yet the stones fall off easily)
Middle: sand from a road outside
Top: sifted flower earth (should be nice under vegetation)
Also new: Kursk summer earth in my usual mix of dark and fresh mud
Sideview of the Academy 1/72 Roman warship. So much sanding, I'm surprised there's any plastic left...
Added some dotted treenails along the beams, it's subtle but adds to the illusion of a wooden construction
That plume-like ornament on the tail is apparently called an aplustre, typical to Roman and Greek ships. Both a symbol of power and a sort of trophy when taken from a defeated enemy, plucking their feathers, as it were... Had some trouble getting it to look wooden.
The ancient Roman warship just evolved into a rowboat. That's most of the woodwork done.
Busy times ahead unfortunately, so it may be on hold for a while. Then it's on to masts, sails (stripes or giant penguin pirate) and 26 ๐ซ colourful shields

Blurry picture is blurryโฆ. Anyways clean edges look great
Quick testfit for the skirting boards ohhhhh I like what I see ๐
I would honestly be a bit upset if it didn't contain obnoxious amounts of lead and other stuff!! ๐
Others read up stuff on tanks, I lean more about floor paint and wood burning stoves, I somehow really do enjoy it though ๐คฃ
Thank you, Stef! ๐
No worries! Blsky is very strange lately ๐
Thank you, Tom!
At first I had my doubts with the red but I'm glad I went with it ๐
The wooden floor planks painted in different shades of wood. Most of this will not be visible in the end
The finished planks covered in dark red paint, currently only dry fitted because I still need access to the space below. Iโm also currently working on the skirting boards
From the collection of lovely unnecessary things: paint wooden planks as different wooden planks and then paint them completely red ๐๐
But jokes aside I am very pleased with the result!
Sadly I couldn't find anything about this particular paint that appears to be quite popular in Soviet housesโฆ
Are we?
I was away from the internet until now (busy building house) ๐
I love your sun airfield pictures, every time I think itโs pictures of a real plane ๐
This one turned out really nice! ๐
And SMOL! ๐
Thank you, Cari!
Thank you, Mitch! ๐
Right? :D
I think It started when I added the roof that I felt the rest was not fitting. I suspect I need to continue tweaking it with every new element I add ๐
Priorities!
I love the Penguin!
