Text on a navy brick background reads: 'Do we place students in special education rooms to meet the students' needs? Or is it sometimes justified to be convenient for adults?'

Do we place students in special education rooms because they need that to learn—or because it feels more convenient? Time to reflect. #LeadInclusion #UDL #EduSky #EdChat #TeacherTwitter

If students forget what we teach, it may be a sign that we need to build stronger connections to help them hold on to it. 🪢

Memory isn’t built by covering content once—it comes through retrieving, connecting, using, and revisiting over and over, until it sticks. 🔄

After teaching a concept, challenge students to use it in a mini-task: sketch a quick cartoon 🧑🎨, draft a fake text message or tweet 📱, or explain the concept to a younger student 💬.

Ask them to create, connect, or solve using the skill—the goal is not to summarize the concept but use it.

Line titled The Forgetting Curve. In an hour, your students will forget more than half of what they learn. The chart shows that in 20 minutes, what students remember declines from 100% to roughly 60%. Then by the hour mark, it declines to just above 40%.

Without reinforcement, we forget almost everything we learn, @cathleenbeachbd.bsky.social writes.

Decades of research show that unless an effort is made to retain new information, 50% of new info disappears within an hour, 75% is gone by the next day, & up to 90% fades away within a week. 🤯

Positioning Elementary Students as Experts in Math Class Encouraging students to take on roles traditionally reserved for teachers creates a shared culture of teaching and learning in the classroom.

Excited to share my recent article published on @edutopia.org! It doesn't take much to start to shift practice towards a more shared culture of teaching and learning in our math classrooms. #MTBOS #elemmathchat #iteachmath #edusky #mathsky

Teaching Students to Use Chunking to Tackle Complex Problems Middle and high school teachers can show students how to break projects into smaller parts to support their ability to manage their work.

Teaching students how to break a project into manageable pieces can:

🤝 Build collaboration and problem-solving skills
🎒 Increase student ownership
🌼 Cultivate rich classroom community

@criticalskills1.bsky.social and Nelia Rath share a how-to guide.

Why Did a 75-Year-Old Man in Poor Health Just Die in ICE Custody? Isidro Perez came to the United States from Cuba nearly 60 years ago. This is who Stephen Miller is going after now?

Just awful: A 75-year-old man just died in ICE custody, ICE has revealed in a notice to Congress.

But here's the rub: This man, a Cuban national, was first paroled into the US in 1966—nearly 60 years ago! They were set to deport him anyway.
