Brings back memories. Our flowers were always really luxuriant there. We gave them away when we left as we knew they’d not survive up north!

The congregation previously used the local Blyth Hall for services after the charge was set up in 1883.

As the congregation grew, so too did the donated furniture and furnishings.

A simple yet picturesque church on a rise overlooking the Tay, by architect Thomas Martin Cappon, is our #ScottishChurchOfTheWeek.

Built in 1887 for £1000, the limited budget meant the original interior was somewhat austere.

Today our granddaughter, Jessica, would have been 25. She died completely unexpectedly in Glasgow’s QEUH in January 2022, while having investigations, leaving a huge gap in our lives and many questions.

This week's #ScottishChurchOfTheWeek is the beautiful St Conan's Kirk in Argyll.

Built in stages between 1881 and 1930, this remarkable building has elements drawn from Pagan, Celtic, Norman, Romanesque, Saxon and Gothic architecture and influences.

First trip abroad, 68 years ago at Easter, to Paris with schoolmates from Vale of Leven Academy. Had booked another visit there this summer but have cancelled. Getting too ancient for adventures.

#ScottishChurchOfTheWeek, Pollokshields Church of Scotland, contains a total of 25 stained glass windows, by artists including Stephen Adam, W. & J.J. Kier and Robert Anning Bell.

Look out for the splendid eagle lectern on its ball swivel and, at the rear of the church.

A tall slender spire pierces 55 metres into the Glasgow sky at #ScottishChurchOfTheWeek, Pollokshields, that was built in 1877 and designed by Scottish architect Robert Baldie. He provided a clock face on all 4 sides of the tower, for residents of Pollokshields to set their watches by.

Great to catch up with lots of #StainedGlass enthusiasts at the Robin Chapel today. Warm welcome from the chaplain Dr Barclay, who filled us in on the history of the Thistle foundation and the chapel.

Off later this morning to the Scottish #StainedGlass Symposium at the Robin Chapel, Edinburgh, to see and hear about the special windows, designed by Sadie McLellan. Visited a few years ago but this time there will be experts to interpret them.

St Michael's Church in Inveresk will be permanently closed and sold following the retirement of its current minister.

Built on the site of a Roman fort, the important local landmark church was deemed "unsafe" due to faults in its aging ceiling which now requires costly repairs. (1/2)

Sad to see another local church closing its doors. Laid my father in law to rest at Inveresk Church cemetery only a couple of years ago, who was one of the church’s parishioners. 😢

Jamini Sen: The Bengali doctor who made medical history in Britain In 1912, Jamini Sen became the first woman Fellow of Glasgow’s Royal College, founded in 1599 and long closed to women.

Another forgotten story of an amazing woman - now recovered in a biography by her great-niece. She qualified at Kolkata Medical College, became physician to the royal household in Nepal, &

One of a series of 12 windows depicting Arthurian tales. Geraint and Enid, a 14th century romance.
Artist as yet unknown...
Likely to be one of the Cottier gang... ?

Listed as 1910 (there are windows here that look 1910, but these look earlier, 1880's. )

Great to learn there's been a fantastic turnout at the community event in Crail Parish Church, with music on the Harrison & Harrison pipe organ from Chris Bragg (from Sowne of Organe) and special guest Michael Portillo, whose gt grandfather built the instrument.
