The SIP training program is a multi-disciplinary, inter-spiritual, multi-racial community of persons gathered for education, connection, and formation in the work of spiritually integrated psychotherapy. It serves licensed and pre-licensed mental health professionals (i.e., counselors, social workers, marriage and family therapists, pastoral counselors, psychologists, psychiatrists, addiction specialists, and more), as well as graduate students in any of those disciplines who seek to explore the ways spirituality, religion, and the search for meaning influence their own lives and the lives of their clients. Click here for more information. Dorothea Lotze, M.Div., Th.M., LMFT Certified Educator of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) & Trainer in Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy Dorothea Lotze is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Certified Educator of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE), specializing in training mental health professionals to integrate spirituality into psychotherapy. Originally from Germany, she earned her Master of Divinity (M.Div.) and Master of Theology (Th.M.) in her homeland and at Candler School of Theology, Emory University. As Executive Director of the Training and Counseling Center Atlanta (TACC), she leads programs that prepare clergy, counselors, and lay leaders to provide spiritually attuned, socially just care, rooted in her decades of experience as a hospital chaplain and educator. In her training work, Dorothea emphasizes a trauma-informed, systems-oriented approach to spiritually integrated psychotherapy, drawing on her background in Internal Family Systems, EMDR, and mindfulness. She models interfaith competence and cultural humility, teaching professionals to serve clients of diverse spiritual backgrounds—including non-religious individuals—without bias. Her holistic perspective extends to her roles as a Yoga and Mindfulness Meditation teacher, informing her training in embodied healing practices. Dorothea’s personal life reflects her commitment to resilience and transition. A mother of adult twin daughters, she shares her home with her Yorkie-Poodle, Zoe, and practices Yin Yoga, meditation, and nature immersion as daily self-care. Her own experiences—including immigration, intercultural marriage, and divorce—deeply inform her compassionate, inclusive approach to training. She currently balances her professional leadership at TACC with a committed long-term relationship and a passion for supporting individuals and families navigating cultural, spiritual, and life transitions.
