Trying to overcome a creative block, I discovered something funny in Illustrator. A closed path, a vector brush—and to my surprise, a strange animation results

💭 Is that what I'm going to grow up into?
Oh my oh my.
How lucky am I!
Heron don't stand around in places randomly.
There's no point in moving unless it has Purpose.
Until there is Purpose, we'll Ponder.
This milkweed seed pod burst open just as I was setting up the camera.
Don't know if I'm pathologically optimistic or what, but I'm sort of pleased that my 13 TB photo data restore task is forcing a week off from editing. I've been wanting to get around to #writing for a while.

There's a low spot in our park where water collects in the spring, forming a huge puddle Every year, a pair of #ducks arrives here They spend some time here and then fly off to the river
It's as if they need a little solitude before the bustle of the bird colony where they hatch their chicks

A fieldfare with almost complete albinism, with spots remaining only on its chest
I recently encountered an albino bird for the second time in my life and was able to photograph it for the first time It's a fieldfare
At first, I thought it was some kind of parrot and got scared It was -20 degrees outside, and I had to rescue it immediately

Sketches of an owl bird with a black gel pen
When I feel like I don't know where to go next, I draw countless owls.
How do you deal with such situations?

An adult Ash-Throated flycatcher delivers a bug to it's nestlings
A messy looking birds nest made of bits of string and tattered fabric is set in the steel wire framework of an old windsock. Three grey nestlings huddle together in the mix of metal and rubberized orange fabric
The wind sock screeched like a lost banshee whenever the wind direction shifted and spun it in a different direction, a telltale for the firefighters on duty that the wind had changed. Didn't seem to bother the birds at all...
Every year at a USFS duty station an Ash-Throated raised its brood in a windsock at the helicopter landing pad.
The station manager made sure the battered orange sock was properly raised each season, like clockwork the flycatchers would show up a few days later.

You don't often see highly stylized comparative anatomy pieces. I think this is the only time Harper did one!
