two deer, and adult and a younger one in a forest cast in golden evening light, turning to look directly at the camera
I kinda like these shots where they notice me and look right into the camera

eastern tiger swallowtail butterfly, seen up close from the side, with its wings back, giving a good view of it's antennae, one of its eyes, and a long proboscis reaching down into a small yellow flower
take a closer look at that snout

close up shot of a small yellow flower mostly in shade, light glinting gently off one of the petals that is in sunlight
some details from this, because they're very nice and bsky compression eats sharpness for breakfast
two small, all yellow flowers growing from the forest floor, in a nice sunbeam. Other flowers of the same kind can be seen out of focus in the background.
realized I hadn't posted hardly any of these, these yellow flowers pop up everywhere in the spring, especially in the more swampy areas.

It's amazing what gets destroyed for a lawn.
I had to get a dedicated device because I was sick of important albums being interrupted by calls and notifications. I've yet to find a perfect one but it beats it giving Daniel Ek a single penny ever again.
Seeing this article a lot today and I gotta remind people you can still own stuff without physical media. Modern mp3 players are very nice, and NAS full of movies works as well as it did 15 years ago. If you wanna use tape because it's tactile and cool more power to you though.
Small crt TV on a filing cabinet with a label that reads "if it is Wednesday, only play Big Wednesday. If it is not Wednesday, do not play Big Wednesday", with a shelf of VHS tapes on the side, against a wall covered in knickknacks.
I do get the fun factor, here's a pic from my job. Old pic, that TV was killed by a forklift (rip) and the tape collection has doubled in size.
True, but it's the last era before streaming became the norm, which is really where the problem is. If owning media is the concern, why not use the best tech available? If you like old gizmos for sheer cool factor that's fine too, but not necessary to escape streaming hell.
Like I would *never* watch a movie for the first time on VHS unless it was direct to video and intended to be that way
Yeah I think that's what's odd to me about it, it's not about how convenience so much as ownership, you can have 90% (100 if you run your own cloud) of the convenience of modern tech and still own things. Tactile stuff I get, but it isn't worth the vast reduction in quality, for me.
I don't really understand this stuff, modern mp3 players are quite nice, and a NAS full of ripped or pirated movies works fine. The only reason to go back to stuff like this is for the aesthetic. Just use the computer like it's 2012, the hardware hasn't changed.

... What would a zero day in ffmpeg even be? I know that isn't the point here but I'm very confused by this.
turn off your so-called "security" lights that do about as much good as a security blanket, or put them on a sensor or a timer. I am begging you.
Really coming around to 4:3 aspect ratio despite once considering it a big drawback of MFT. Shooting for 3:2, 4:3 raws still look well composed most of the time, and crop really well to every other common ratio in most compositions.

I've had conversations with people who believe when a soldier kills someone in a war it isn't murder, but rather some secret, much funnier third thing.
also a zoom-in here for some detail

This is always how I've felt about our responsibility here, we are like a crew on a ship. We need to get it together though, there's always a way.

Guns do sometimes prevent death. It is not possible to oppose violence without knowing and practicing violence yourself.
