It’s one of King’s best writes. IMO.
I’ve read it twice. I love the master.
“The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed.”
— The Gunslinger, Stephen King
Would this hook you enough to keep reading?

The letter arrived forty years too late, and somehow it still knew my name.
Let’s build a story together.
I’ll start with the first line.
You reply with the next line.
Let’s see where it goes.
New direction here.
This account is now The First Line. A place for opening lines and new stories.

History doesn’t whisper.
It stains the ground and waits for us to notice.

"Ceremony of Rot"
A feast in the cesspool.
Nothing sacred. Nothing hidden.
The dance plays on until it doesn't.

I’m going to go quiet for a while.
Giving, promoting, helping, and then being blocked or ignored for it wears you down more than people realize.
Time to step back, protect my energy, and write.

Fuck the ingrates
What are you trying to say?
Actually, fuck this motherfucker. I don’t care I will continue to do what I see fit.
I don’t want anything. I only want to promote .
🤷
I did spend at least two hours going through different accounts until I found this one which really resonated with me. What a shame. His work is fantastic.
This one really hurts.
I featured someone only to support their work, and instead of a message or a conversation, I was simply blocked.
I’m only trying to do good here.
Sometimes that lands harder than the block itself.

They’re all over on IG save for a few.
They’re all poems
I kind of do the same thing. I dictate them into my Notes app, and then whatever I have, I throw down on paper and scratch around, changing things. You never know when something will pop up and a new muse is born.
FFS I’m still writing 2025 on everything! 😳

This is how I write my poetry, scraps, crossings-out, pages that argue with themselves until a line finally stays.
And you? How does your process look?

If you are drawn to poems that experiment boldly
but still protect a real emotional core,
Spend time with this voice.
Small forms.
Large echoes.

What stands out in his work is the tension between brilliance and vulnerability.
The lines dazzle, yes,
but underneath the invention is a steady question
How much of love, faith, and self can language actually hold

Feature Thursday
@upfromsumdirt
A poet whose work moves by sound and association,
where language does not explain itself so much as unfold.
This is poetry that trusts the reader.
