Kalevala(1835) was compiled by Elias Lönnrot on the basis of the epic folk poems he had collected in Finland and Karelia. This poetic song tradition had been part of the oral tradition among speakers of Balto-Finnic languages for 2,000 years. (Kalevala day Feb 28th). #folklore #ritualpoetry #rituals

In Finnish tradition women did bake red cakes (moon bood cakes) or put it in coffee or other food when doing love magic. Other popular spices were saliva and sweat. The basic idea, of course, was to connect oneself with another.

I read two poems a day. It is a bit hard text and so much happening in few lines. But super interesting!
