Absolutely it is!
And yes, well done to anyone who volunteers in any capacity to make their part of the world a better place!

I spent my weekend carrying out some more habitat management work for Duke of Burgundy in Pickering Woods, with volunteers from @bcyorkshire.bsky.social @northyorkmoors.org.uk and Pickering Env. Group.
We coppiced a strip of approx. 35m x 5m, opening up an area with lots of Primrose coming through.

Yes, even on an overcast day the vivid blue is stunning!

That's a female Common Blue. It has the extra spot on the crossing and no figure-8 on the hindwing. Sorry!

I think the unopened buds of Devil's-bit Scabious are as attractive as the flowers.

And yet, just 2 days earlier I counted over 140 Peacock, plus lots of Painted Lady, Red Admiral, and Small Tortoiseshell at a N. Yorkshire site.

A single Brown Hairstreak seen at Arnside Knott yesterday, along with some Painted Ladies and a Small Tortoiseshell. Despite the fine weather there weren't many butterflies about.
