So NZ PM Chris Luxon promised Sean Plunket he "had his back" and would protect Platform from the BSA. Now TP is under BSA remit, Goldsmith moves to scrap BSA. This is absolutely fucked up Trumpian politics

Let me get this straight, Jacinda was unsuccessful and divisive because she united us in a world-leading crisis response; Luxon is successful because he’s dragged us cluelessly into one crisis after another with no plan at all. Got it. #NZPol

NZ abstaining from voting UN resolution on enslavement of Africans being gravest crime against humanity

WTF was our govt thinking? Why would we not wholeheartedly support this important recognition & mahi towards justice? (rhetorical)

“Levying billions of dollars of charges onto every New Zealand family and business to increase our dependence on overseas fossil fuels is crazy,”
— NZGBC chief executive Andrew Eagles

Yes, it really *is* beyond economic madness to push LNG. Definitely some very ugly quid pro quo going down.

Really quick chart to show the rise of declared state of emergencies due to sever weather events. See the trend?

Also we are only 45 days into 2026!

Can we talk about climate change now?

NZ needs to pay power firms to build renewable generation – professor

Though often seen as a clean-energy success story, NZ is lagging other countries that are reaching 100 percent renewable power. Jamie Morton reports.

Bronwyn Hayward is a Professor of NZ Politics, with one of her research foci being climate change and its politics/policy (she's also been someone I've known since I was a PhD student and has been a support to me), so I can say she is absolutely not only worth a follow, but is highly qualified here.

Simon Watts saying the levy the govt called a levy in its own media release documents isn't a levy, having also said that a charge set against all users to pay for something government is building isn't a tax is a new low point for "words don't mean anything any more".

Reasons why RNZ will never have me back on:
-said landlords being MPs was a conflict of interest
-called ACT a far right political party
-declined to gossip and speculate about Golriz

Seabed miner Trans-Tasman Resources retracts claim it will earn $1 billion a year It comes after the plan was included in the list of projects up for Fast Track Bill approval.

RNZ's lapses are concerning. Australia's TTR wasn't going to make $1 billion earnings for #NZ through seabed mining. TTR made that claim but retracted it once they got onto fast track. RNZ even reported it back then but in the last 2 days, RNZ have republished the $1b claim as fact twice #nzpol

Hi Foxy. 😊 Maddow’s good, isn’t she? There are regular repostings of MS videos by other accounts for the clicks. Notice the account that posted this one. When this happens the thumbnail and title get rehashed to get noticed and the odd spelling error pops up, like here

When Tasman flooded this year, with people trapped & millions of $ in damage, lost livehlihoods. Luxon flew to a Hawaii for holiday. He didn't tell anyone until he got back.
Now he tells NZ we don't deserve our Xmas holidays & we're not American enough. The man with NO portfolio is a tosser #nzpol

I remain of the view that the key issue here is that the government could not use Transport funding to build a footbridge everyone wanted, ministers included, because the same government has deliberately made that impossible. It's a point Audrey Young completely misses.
