So excited to be representing @spun.earth at the #IUCNCongress! 🌍✨ I’m eager to connect with you and explore how we can integrate mycorrhizal fungi into your conservation strategies. Schedule a time to meet up: www.spun.earth/events/iucn-...
One of the articles was written by myself, @adricorrales.bsky.social, @tobykiers.bsky.social and Kelcie Walther @spun.earth, with illustrations by Manvi Vakharia. I'm so thrilled with the outcome! www.currentconservation.org/integrating-...
Current Conservation just published a special issue on fungal conservation. It is amazingly beautiful and creative, with great content! Don’t miss out on this fascinating exploration of fungi and their vital role in our ecosystems! 🍄🟫 💕 www.currentconservation.org/issues/19-3/
Our maps predicted the steppes of Kazakhstan as hotspots of fungal biodiversity. No samples had been collected to identify which mycorrhizal fungi exist there.
@bethanfmanley.bsky.social and @thecrobe.bsky.social went to ground truth the prediction and New Humanist wrote about it: buff.ly/oIg3dDo
Check out our latest paper on AM fungi, knowledge gaps and @globalgoalsun.bsky.social Sustainable Development Goals... AM fungi might be too small for us to see, but are too important for us to lose! Amazing work led by @thecrobe.bsky.social and @bethanfmanley.bsky.social 👇
SPUN has just released its Underground Atlas, which maps the richness and endemism of mycorrhizal fungi. This incredible tool will aid in defining conservation priorities by incorporating mycorrhizal fungi into the process. I couldn't be prouder to work with the amazing team who put this together!
🚨🍄 NatureServe is just hiring a Lead Mycologist for the first time! This position will have a major impact on fungal conservation in North America! So excited for what's coming! www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/le...
Join us for this #MoSTFun and most valuable new webinar series on EBVs! Brought to you in collaboration with GEO BON.
Natipusilla limonensis, a freshwater fungus from submerged wood in the neotropics.
Having >1000 species of #fungi assessed is a great milestone!!
@funaction.bsky.social is working towards #aquaticfungi #conservation in close collaboration with @iucnaquafungi.bsky.social!
We will contribute to the assessment of aquatic fungi species. 💧🍄
Stay tuned!!

This is the result of the hard work of so many people, including members of @iucnfungi.bsky.social and staff @spun.earth
More than 1,000 species of fungi assessed in the IUCN Red List highlighting huge threats from habitat loss, pollution and climate change. Very sad news, but HUGE that IUCN picked up fungi to be the main focus of their press release iucn.org/press-releas...
What’s happening beneath Patagonia’s changing landscape?
The Patagonian drylands’ native willows are being pushed out by invasive non-native ones—but how do #fungi fit into this story?
@nahpo.bsky.social a SPUN Underground Explorer, is digging into this mystery.👇📹

Don't miss seeing @adricorrales.bsky.social speak at @thegsbi.bsky.social on March 19!
Species live in connection with other species and not in isolation. We need to look at these interactions to make sure we are not losing any species in cascade. @iucnfungi.bsky.social @spun.earth @protectspecies.bsky.social
Damian Wrigley @mobotgarden.bsky.social again highlighting the importance of networks and collaboration for effective conservation. We can go further if we bring together different people with different expertise! I would also add that to save plants we also need to include the fungi and animals!
@drechsler-santos.bsky.social @iucnfungi.bsky.social @mobotgarden.bsky.social @spun.earth
Eduardo Fernandez @jardimbotanicorj.bsky.social on how the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation was crucial for plant conservation in Brazil! Brazil is already one of the leading countries in fungal conservation and we hope a Fungal Strategy will take it to the next level!
Great workshop @mobotgarden.bsky.social co-lead by @spun.earth @iucnfungi.bsky.social @plantlifeuk.bsky.social Lots of opportunities to integrate a Global Strategy for Fungal Conservation with the Plant Strategy and GBF to ensure effective conservation for all species and people!
Emily Coffey from Atlanta Botanic Garden at the International Plant Conservation Conference @mobotgarden.bsky.social: How to keep a plant safe? Share it! Collaboration really is key in conservation! @spun.earth has been great on promoting collaborations through our UEP and associates programs!
Local communities must be part of the solution for conservation! @charlottecouch.bsky.social @rbgkew.bsky.social talking about the amazing work being done in Guinea and IPAs in close collaboration with the local communities. @mobotgarden.bsky.social

We must protect #fungi to halt biodiversity loss by 2030. To that end, we're helping to develop a Global Strategy for Fungal Conservation.
@catiacanteiro.bsky.social, SPUN Strategist, will co-lead a workshop on shaping the new strategy at the International Plant Conservation Conference today.
Rachel Hoffmann @plantlifeuk.bsky.social highlighting how far we have come with now 9 fungal specialist groups in the IUCN SSC. So proud I have helped create many of these @protectspecies.bsky.social. @iucnfungi.bsky.social @mobotgarden.bsky.social

The International Plant Conservation Conference kickoff at Missouri Botanic Garden! Excited to learn how we can build a Global Strategy for Fungal Conservation as impactful as the Plant Strategy. We're starting with the person who made it all happen, Peter Wyse Jackson.
A sad example of what we risk losing when policy doesn't put nature first. It's not just cute animals that are at risk, but the fungi that underpin the ecosystems the cute animals live on. We should also not forget humans are part of nature and when we lose species we risk ourselves as well.
