Our cryo-EM analysis of the FtsH periplasmic domain is now published! This study reveals a previously uncharacterized conformational change in the periplasmic domain, suggesting a potential role in substrate translocation.
Congratulations to the team!

Recent paper from our lab!
Happy to share that this work from my postdoctoral studies has been published, in which we introduce a robust virus like particle (VLP) platform, ADDomer toward vaccine development applications. Congratulations to Bergers Lab team members! @bristolbiodesign.bsky.social

Thanks for your comment! This research study led us to many surprising findings
I've also purified ArnA by mistake (who hasn't?). Did mass spec before plunging it though, so never got this nice structure :)
Congratulations! Beautiful structures and very hard work
Structural biology was on the stage in the beginning of COVID with the spike protein structures on TV screens now the stage is yours mitochondria
This morning, I wandered around the medical suppliers and tried to find a piece for our project, then I improvised something with the materials we had on hand-so, if you're solution-oriented and take ownership of your work, you solve it.. I hope you don't lose your excitement for doing science!
Dedicated my talk at the opening evening of Biophysical Society proton meeting to Karen Davies.
Karen's work shaped the field of bioenergetics from solving the horizontal subunit-a of ATP synthase to the structures of photosynthetic CI and more. She was a brilliant scientist, mentor and communicator
Just returned from an incredible visit to South Korea as part of our bilateral scientific project between Türkiye and Korea! with Seoul National University, funded by TÜBİTAK. I had the privilege of visiting several leading research institutions, IBS, KAIST, KBSI, and Chungnam National University
BvK LaB group picture 2025 from the traditional Lake Eymir, Ankara walk. This year, two members graduated as MSc and PhD. Two students, one MSc and one PhD, have joined. Two interns have completed their internship. We are excited for the new term full of science!
Back from the ISDB,
Clearly my presence in the lab was missed!

ArnA and AcrB were copurified and structurally resolved within the cryo-EM sample of the overexpressed membrane protein complex, FtsH and YidC. Our study reveals interesting findings and confirms the power of #cryoEM technique.
In Baltimore, Maryland for #ASMS25 to present our XL-MS studies, explore exciting research in mass spectrometry, and meet great scientists from all over the world.
I will be at Baltimore, MD, US next week for #ASMS2025 to present XL-MS data of YidC interactions with other partners involved in the bacterial membrane biogenesis and quality control, a part of our TÜBİTAK 2232 project. Please find our poster at #TP659 on Tuesday
