What is the weight of an EM grid? 🤔

Amazing, I wonder how many people are now sprinting back to some of their old data sets of small particles that they could never successfully process.. err, i have to go 🏃‍♂️💨

Yes great, new grid boxes that have no space to write on. With lids that no standard tool can open. 👍

Checked with Thermo, the plan 4 does take standard cassettes from standard nanocabs. The only thing that is (obviously) not compatible is the optional vacuum nanocab and the plan 3 autoloader (but it can be upgraded). The tomogrids are compatible with both autoloaders

“Existing instruments
equipped with an Autoloader can be retrofitted to be
compatible with both standard capsules and the
Vacuum Capsule.” This implies a system can take both types of capsules

Yeah that’s if you want to use the new vacuum nanocab on the older systems.. but what about using the normal nanocab on the new autoloader?

Unless i misunderstand this somewhat hazy documentation, which is entirely possible 😅

I don’t think the plan 3 and plan 4 autoloaders are per se not compatible.. the plan 4 does still take the normal cassettes, right? You’re only referring to the new TomoGrids for which you need the plan 4

Fair enough, but I normally have other plans in the night 🤔💤

New #preprint - a amazing study of HECT ligase Tom1. This paper is a treat for those of you who LOVE #cryoEM and for those who love #ubiquitin! Congrats to the Fischer lab, including @moritzhunkeler.bsky.social and @ssroyburman.bsky.social who are on #bluesky.
