The Planning and Infrastructure Bill has become law. Thanks to everyone who helped campaign against this regressive and ill thought out legislation. The government has committed to take an evidence based approach, we will continue holding them to account www.bats.org.uk/news/2025/11... #bats 🦇
Our @climatemajority.bsky.social petition, calling for a National Climate Resilience Plan, is really starting to move - with 200 signatures in the last couple of days alone. Let's keep it going!

21 in there - and room for a few more - cosy!
Good to see coverage of the spectre of ISDS outside the domain of academia. One way of responding to anti-environmental lawfare is fighting back with environmental liability litigation, as we argue here conbio.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.... 🌏
We are a quarter of the way to our @biggive.bsky.social #AVoiceForBats #ChristmasChallenge target.
Thank you to everyone who has donated already. This is a great opportunity to help 🦇 bat conservation by having your DONATIONS DOUBLED. Please share widely too #BatsNeedFriends #lovebats
What’s in the *bird* box? 🪺 🐦
A colony of Daubenton’s #bats! 🦇
They don’t read the labels! Lots of bats using “bird” boxes.
Popped lid back on & left in peace. Monitoring under (bird & bat) licences.

Great news for a critical life force in #Norfolk - recognising the importance of the wonderful yet beleaguered River Wensum! 💙
Well done @greenpartynorwich.bsky.social & Norwich City Council 👏
Let’s hope some serious #conservation ACTION follows… 🤞💪

New study confirms that short wavelength light (UV & blue) attracts the most nocturnal insects & that intensity increases attraction for all colours. Longer wavelength & lower intensity outdoor lights should reduce biodiversity impacts resjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/... #teammoth 🌍
This is so deeply disappointing. I really despair. A dark day for the UK’s precious wildlife and habitats. We need to be urgently stepping up protections, not recklessly discarding them… 🦇 🌳

The govt has stripped out crucial protections from the Planning & Infrastructure Bill. This includes measures to safeguard nature, prioritise brownfield land and give Parliament proper oversight. www.cpre.org.uk/news/government-strips-p...
Watching Labour MPs take a wrecking ball to nature makes me so angry & so sad. Their action tonight voting down amendments to the #PlanningBill intended to protect wildlife & habitats from destruction is so reckless & so counterproductive. People didn’t vote Labour for this 👇
A wonderful, insightful piece by @iainrobinson.bsky.social in latest issue of @hinterlandnf.bsky.social.
“GLOAMING” describes a woodland under threat from the (currently shelved 🤞) Norwich Western Link and its barbastelle #bat inhabitants. I’m touched to feature in the piece! 📹🦇🌳
They’ll be voting on this in the Commons *tomorrow* (Thur 13th Nov) so if you still haven’t contacted your MP please do so ASAP today! And confusingly Amendment 130 is now Amendment 40 😵💫 - so that needs clarifying too. @bengoldsborough.bsky.social

Excellent #LawPodUK episode from @1crownofficerow.bsky.social ft leading environmental lawyer Carol Day from @leigh-day.bsky.social talking about significance of our recent High Court win against Natural England who had tried to increase our adverse costs cap #Aarhus

Surprise surprise… explains why this bill is such a disaster for wildlife & their habitats. We need balanced and informed evidence-based decision making, not this biased, subjective nonsense.
Really hoping my MP
@bengoldsborough.bsky.social will be voting in support of Amendment 130 🙏
Those who harm wildlife are also likely to harm people 🚨
The @wclnews.bsky.social Wildlife Crime Report this year highlights that 59% of people who commit crimes against wildlife are also associated with other violent crimes

This is URGENT and so important. Please do email your MP this weekend 👇🙏
There are 1,500 scientifically described species of bats in the world, they account for more than a quarter of mammal species in the UK and around 20% of all mammal species worldwide. Bats play an important role in many habitats around the world. www.bats.org.uk/about-bats/w... #biodiversity #bats 🦇
Spent the morning in a wonderful patch of wet woodland in @broadsnationalpark.bsky.social preparing bespoke bat tree roosts assessment training 🦇🌳- whilst exploring came across this sleepy resident, nestled behind a callus roll in an oak (photo taken using an endoscope, under licence).
EDPs = Environmental Delivery Plans
It will go back to the House of Commons now, if they don't agree to the amendment (😩) there'll be back & forth until they can agree, but very good news for now at least and at last some sense!🤞
THANK GOODNESS! 😅 House of Lords debated Pt 3 of Planning & Infrastructure Bill today - voted in favour of amendment limiting EDPs to impacts like nutrient neutrality, air pollution etc i.e. NOT for protected species & habitats (which would have been disastrous & massive weakening of protections)… 🙌
Shhhh! 🤫 A little privacy please… Right outside my office door - a common pipistrelle #bat mating roost! A male is holed-up in here (in gap between rafter & cladding) with his little harem of females. They’re quite chatty too! 🦇🦇🦇 @batconservation.bsky.social @norfolknorwichbats.bsky.social
