Good news for The Railway Bell 🔔 in Gipsy Hill!
We raised concerns about proposals for demolition, particularly the lack of proper consideration for adaptation and conversion. It’s encouraging to see a decision that recognises the building’s value as a locally listed heritage asset.
The restored façade of #Wolverhampton Central Library is now on view.
Built 1900–1902 by Henry T. Hare, this Grade II* listed building features rich terracotta detail, including friezes naming notable poets.

The Temple of the Four Winds at @castlehowardestate.bsky.social is a striking 18th-century garden building by Sir John Vanbrugh, blending classical design with dramatic landscape setting. A key moment on Terrace Walk and a standout example of Baroque garden architecture.

NEWS: We’ve objected to the demolition of The Railway Bell, a locally listed pub in Gipsy Hill.
The proposals fail to recognise its heritage value and do not properly consider adaptation over demolition. Façadism is not an appropriate solution.
We encourage others to object. tinyurl.com/4chh2c54

Set within Rivington Gardens, the Pigeon Tower, was designed around 1910 by Thomas Mawson for William Lever, 1st Viscount Leverhulme. The Grade II listed, Gothic-style tower, complete with its distinctive semi-circular stair turret, once served as both a dovecote and a lookout. 🕊️

LOCAL HERITAGE: We urge LiveWest & South Glos Council to rethink demolition plans for the former Watermore/Brockeridge school buildings (1846) in Frampton Cotterell.
They hold strong local value and contribute to the area’s character. Reuse and adaptation should be considered.

CASEWORK UPDATE: Bryn Corach, #Conwy a striking Grade II Gothic villa — and its future is being decided right now. We support removing the 1963 hotel wing, but we're concerned about plans to replace original windows, doors and add a clashing garage. There's scope for sympathetic extensions instead.🏛️
It is well worth a visit!
Page Street Housing in #Westminster, designed by Edwin Lutyens in the 1920s, is a striking example of interwar #housing.
Grade II listed, it combines simple forms, careful proportions and practical #design, showing how everyday homes can be both functional and thoughtfully designed.
St Paul’s, Deptford is a remarkable early 18th-century church designed by Thomas Archer and completed in the 1730s as part of the Commission for Building Fifty New Churches. Grade I listed, it remains one of Archer’s most accomplished works and an important landmark in this part of London.
You can visit it, and go inside! It is still open as a tourist attraction.
Ever wondered what the UK’s tiniest house looks like? 🏠
The Smallest House in Great Britain sits on #Conwy’s quayside and is widely recognised as the smallest house in Great Britain, measuring just 72 inches (≈ 183 cm) wide. This Grade II listed building was lived in until 1900.

Built in 1728, Grade I listed Boreham House, #Chelmsford is a rare survival of early C18 design, with its symmetrical design still intact. We support a proposed school use, but have objected to a prominent glazed lift tower that would harm its character and setting.
