As part of this new chapter, I’m seeking a fully funded master’s student (Fall 2025/Spring 2026) to join my lab!
Topics are flexible, but in the areas of
💧 Water quality modeling
❄️ River ice modeling and data assimilation
More information on the lab website below.

🚨 Exciting News! 🚨
I’m happy to share that I’ve accepted an offer to join the University of South Carolina as an Assistant Professor! I am looking forward to building my lab, where we’ll explore hydrologic impacts on communities around the world. 🚀

Delighted that my #PhD #research at University of Stirling @stir.ac.uk features in this uplifting @theguardian.com article! Wonderful recognition of 30+ years of restoration action for montane willows across Scotland, spotlighting Ben Lawers @n-t-s.bsky.social.

There are about 27,000 scientists at #AGU24, and about half of them work on climate one way or another. Whenever I walk into a room like this, I always take a moment to take it all in—all these people dedicated their lives to working on some of our toughest problems. That gives me strength.
An image of the mywaterway tool from the EPA that shows multiple streams in the Boulder Creek watershed in Boulder, CO as impaired.
💧 Curious about the water quality in your area? Thanks to science 🧪 and the EPA, you can explore your local watershed with this handy tool: mywaterway.epa.gov
Unfortunately, Boulder has multiple impaired creeks from metals and 🦠—but tools like this are a great step toward awareness and action.
Took a social media break and returned to so many new folks. Welcome!
"Is my water safe" This is the #1 question I get asked. While my research focuses on water before it is treated, here is an excellent resource to check on your local drinking water quality enviro.epa.gov/envirofacts/...
This is a tremendous success!
A message showing that I am the 2314861 user of the 10 million users currently on Bluesky.
Back in the day, I got an invite to Bluesky. It is pretty cool this place has grown to over 10 million users since then, and is now becoming the place for science communication. Very exciting to see!
Thank you! They are all good things, so it has been fun.

Summer has been a whirlwind. I wrapped up the community engagement on my project, successfully defended my dissertation, and moved across the country. I will begin a post-doc with the U.S. EPA Landscape and Aquatic Ecosystems Modeling Branch on Monday! Stay tuned for info on national water quality.

"H3S Recharge Day: Investing in Hydrology's Future! April 22, 2024. 'H3S has built a fantastic community for the future leaders of the AGU Hydrology Section. I am impressed with the quality of events they put together for career development and networking. I only wish they had existed when I was in graduate school! I would certainly encourage any early-career hydrologist to get involved with them' -Kamini Singha Colorado School of Mines. Give here! with arrow pointing at QR code. Announcing our first ever giving day! H3S Recharge Day: Investing in Hydrology’s Future on April 22nd!
We are hosting a giving day to support our programming. We have the goal of raising $20,000 for the year. You can donate here: www.agu-h3s.org/contribute
A graph snowing the current snowpack in snow water equivalent over the water year compared to the 30-year low, median, and maximum values. Since March 1st, there are three notable increases in the current year snowpack elevated it above the 30-year median snowpack.
Thanks to the recent #snow, #Colorado #snowpack is back above the 30-year median! You can check it out for yourself at www.wcc.nrcs.usda.gov/ftpref/suppo...
H3S is an awesome group. It is definitely worth an hour of your time to see what they are all about. During my time with H3S, I met so many friends and colleagues that I still interact with frequently.
Haha love the unexpected Firefly reference. Also, the elevation sandbox is so much fun to play with!
Alaska has almost half of the Native tribes in the United States, but their ability to exercise jurisdiction has been limited since the 1970s by federal law. Now, a new legal analysis by the Department of the Interior offers a way for them to spread tribal law over a swath of Alaska. #akleg #Alaska

Peach clouds at sunset over a parking lot.
Does anyone know what type of clouds these are? This was taken in Boulder, CO last night.
in my personal opinion, the folks involved in making this happen are heroes.

Come check out my poster this week at the AGU Chapman conference if you are interested in how to use remote sensing backscatter to determine river ice thickness a phenology at regional scales.
Check out a new opinion piece my colleagues and I wrote on how systems need to change in order to develop the next generation of convergent scientists that will perform true collaborative/co-produced research with Indigenous people journals.plos.org/climate/arti...
I have multiple of these socks that protect Arctic wildlife. Cool cause and they are great socks!
If you’re at #AGU23 please come support an amazing group of presenters Thursday morning for H41T: Undergraduate Research on Water Quality and Resources (posters #2031-2061)
If you are new to AGU fall meeting and it is feeling a bit daunting, the AGU Hydrology Section JEDI committee is hosting a learning/networking session on navigating the meeting. All disciplines are welcome. Also, there will be free food!!
Two panels showing the mean and maximum river temperatures of Alaskan rivers
Hello! I talk about hydrology, co-produced and actionable science, the graduate school process, and much more. I am currently at CU where I research how climate change is impacting the discharge, temperature, and ice of Alaskan Rivers and the communities who depend on them. Here's a quick preview
